Razer Blackwidow V3 Pro Lights off when unplugged - ?

Hi, everyone -- I've had this KB for a week and I like it so far, but . . . I bought it to be wireless. Yet when I unplug the USB cord, the lights go off after about 10 seconds and won't come back on. Kinda useless to me as I am not a touch typist! (I use it for work rather than gaming.) The KB still works, just no lights. I have the dongle in, 2.4 selected on the KB, full charge (I plug it in at night). Lighting is set to go off when idle for 5 minutes (and it doesn't "wake up" when I type after unplugging it [wakes up fine after normal idle, such as overnight, when plugged in]). Something else I just discovered: When it's unplugged and I switch it to BT, the lights come back on but the kb doesn't work. Back to 2.4 (unplugged) and it works again, but no lights! I have not paired it with anything but my tower. Checked the manual and don't see anything about this. Anyone have a clue what's going on? What am I doing wrong? Thanks much for any help.
