Razer Blade 15 2020 battery, performance and heat

Hi TolgaCal, This is totally normal as to protect the battery, most gaming laptops do not allow the CPU and GPU to draw too much power when not connected to the charger. So now to answer your questions more specifically: "Is it bad if you keep the laptop plugged in with full battery while gaming / using it?" No, overcharging is no longer a thing on modern devices as they will automatically stop giving any power to the battery when they detect it's full. Instead they will apply just a minor trickle charging current to barely keep it at 100% "Is playing on battery bad for the laptop?" No, but you do exchange a significant amount of performance away. "Is it normal for laptop in this price category to have framerate drops while playing on battery?" Yes, it is normal for laptops in every price level, Razer is rather good though in being able to make the impact slightly less significant than other laptops I've tried. Generally you shouldn't expect full gaming performance on battery though, and the overall design ethos of gaming laptops, especially very compact ones like Razer is that they are best used for gaming while plugged in, with being able to last a bit longer while on battery to support in productivity tasks. "Can I do something to get more FPS without damaging my laptop?" Try plugging the laptop into the charger (giving full 220W to the laptop). I'm also not 100% sure, but I would assume that plugging in a 100W capable portable battery bank might also be able to support the laptop to work a bit harder without taking too much power from internal batteries as well. Not 100% sure though of Razer's power behavior on USB-C as I've not tried it yet. "Why is my laptop hot when attached to the charger but not very hot when playing on battery?" This is fully normal and expected behavior. When you are plugged in to a charger, your laptop is able to pull up to 200W of power to give to CPU, GPU and rest of the computer to use for maximum performance. And all of this power will generate lots of heat. As the computer is slowing itself down to avoid damaging the batteries when you are not attached, the computer will be drawing much less power and as such, also less heat is created. :) Sorry for not being able to offer you a solution, as unfortunately this is a case of "working as intended". :) Best Regards, TheParadyme
