Razer Blade 15 2020 loud fans

Hi,

I bought my razer blade 15 base model yesterday and I am in love with the performance and screen of this laptop. However every couple minutes the fans start spinning when I'm idle or browsing the web. Sometimes the fans start spinning as if I am playing a game.

Is there a fix for this issue?

Thanks!

Same issue here. Not sure what is going on. 3 co-workers have the Razer Blade 2019 and theirs are whisper quiet. I noticed that if I switch from balanced to custom and then backed to balanced in synapse, the fan rpms will drop. Seems like a software bug to me.
It does get better when switching back and forth like you mention, definitely a bug, but it's never whisper quiet like a laptop with a vapor chamber and a dense copper heatsinks should. It starts doing high pitched noise when it reaches about 45 degrees Celsius. I am asking if Razer can fix this bug and also update Synapse to let us tolerate more heat in exchange for a quieter system.
I've been having the same issue as of yesterday evening. I've had the laptop for a few months now and it was working perfectly fine. But, for some unknown reason, last night when I opened up a game to play with my boyfriend, it started whirring and making a really scary buzzing sound. So I told my bf I'd be right back and I restarted the laptop. That didn't help a bit. It's even been getting worse. And now it randomly goes off when I'm just browsing the internet or sitting on Discord. I'm scared to open games now because I know the fan already starts going off when I open games, but I'm scared that if I were to try to play one now it would blow my entire laptop out or something. I tried manually playing with the fan settings, but it did close to nothing. I'll keep trying, though. Hopefully, Razer will fix this bug, if it is a software issue. I just ordered a compressed can of air off of Amazon earlier today, and I really don't want to have to try to find a place that will look at my computer for me during a pandemic ):

This seems like a different (more serious) issue than what I am dealing with. This sounds like your fans might be hitting something or one of the bearings is going bad. Mine is just constant high-pitched (normal?) fan noise when idling.
Same here. I have the "Blade Advanced 2020" and my fans are always on when idle. CPU temperature ist arround 50 degrees Celsius. It is annoying. When I switch in Synapse to "Custom" profile and then back fans stop for a little time.

CPU usage is around 0% to 2 %

Hi everyone! Thanks for posting your Razer Blade's concern here. Please perform the following and see if it helps:

a. Tweak the fan settings under the Razer Synapse 3.0's performance tab.
b. You can also try to reduce system load by closing background programs that you are not using. Make sure to save any unsaved work in those programs.
c. Close any processes that may be slowing your system. Just note that some processes may be essential to your system running smoothly and closing them may make your system unstable. We advise you to research this. Please check the steps below:

• Right-clicking your Start button and selecting “Task Manager”.
• Under the “Processes” tab, you may close any processes and look them up on the internet for more information. To close that process, right-click then select “End task”.

Should the above steps did not resolve the issue, please perform a system recovery. Else, you can submit a case by clicking this link or send me a PM.
This last answer definitely doesn't answer the problem... There is a bug. I'm experiencing exactly the same as other users here with no process running

That's why were are isolating the issue, mate. Have you contacted our Support Team or submitted a case? Feel free to send me a PM so I can help assist you.
I did contact support (Incident*Omitted).
They asked me plenty of information that I provided, then asked me to re-init my PC (full reinstall) which I did. Then they asked me to provide a video of the noise showing when I switch from Manual to Automatic on Synapse). I provided that (you can find it here).
But since then, nothing.

When looking on this forum I found plenty of similar cases describing exactly the same behaviour: loud fans even when nothing is running. Situation seems to go back to normal for a couple of seconds when switching in Synapse from Manual to Auto and then back to Manual...
I found a couple of minutes ago an answer from another user here who advised to disable turbo thanks to throttleStop. It doesn't solve the issue but definitely helped.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for the follow-up. And yes, that's not an official fix since you've used third-party software to control the fan speed. I've notified our Support Team. Feel free to send me a PM should you need additional assistance.
I would be glad to hear about the official fix then!!
I used this software to improve the situation after days without any answer...

You're welcome! Should anything comes up, feel free to let me know. I'll do the same too.
Any chance we can get an update on this? I have no choice but to send my device back within my return window if I have no indication of this issue is going to get fixed. I certainly don't want to live with a $3000 laptop thet runs it's fans constantly at high rpm at idle.

Hi there! I've replied to your last PM. I'll wait for your follow-up.
Hi everyone I wanted to post an update to see if anyone is experiencing the same issue. I have notice that my processor has been running constantly on 4.00 GHz on idle when it should be running around 2.60 GHz or less. Also in power option in control panel I saw that a new power plan was created called 'High Performance" I switched it back to "Balanced" and at the monument my system is running quiet on battery and while plugged in.

Note: I think the processor should be running on 4.00 GHz if you have Turbo Boost enabled.

I appreciate your post. Thanks for sharing!

Hey everyone! Did you find the same options as @NomisK02 observed on his laptop? Feel free to update this thread.
Same problems as described. Thinking about returning my unit.

Hey there! What's your current BIOS firmware version? Have you tried updating your laptop's Intel or NVIDIA graphics driver? Feel free to send me a PM should you need additional assistance.
Hi! I updated everything as far as automatic updates go. If there are drivers which require manual installing, I might not have them.
Following the instructions on the Intel Link you provided, Intel asks me if I want to replace every driver of the laptops manufacturer. Do I want that?
Nvidia GeForce Game Ready Driver 452.06.
Firmware 1.03.
Windows on current update level.
I have found with a recent update to Razer Synapse, the Fan Speed keeps getting switched from Auto to Manual High. Every time I switch it to Auto (which reduces the fan speed and noise), it somehow keeps getting reset to Manual High. I regularly have to go into Synapse to set it back to Auto.

Thanks for the follow-up. Create a Windows restore point before update any driver to your PC so you can restore your laptop anytime. If the issue persists after the update, please send me a PM together with your laptop's serial number. Let's continue from there.
Thanks. As much as I love the machine, if we don't find a solution until September 25 I have to send it back.

Please update your Intel graphics driver. By the way, I replied to your PM. Let's continue from there.
Hello every one. I also got my new Razer Blade 15 Base Model yesterday and got the same issue as described above. Fans getting very loud without anything running.

Also updated the graphic drivers and all Intel drivers. Is their a new idea to fix that issue?
just got my blade 15 base 2020 yesterday evening, and already seen the same issue.
the fan produces a high pitch whine and starts spinning for no reason, even on idle.

its much worse when its plugged in, but I would expect at least when its unplugged and I am not doing anything on it, that it does not produce such noise.

if there is user control over undervolting, or ability to control the fans manually. then this might solve it.
