Razer Blade 15 (2021) - So far, so bad - FPS lock, Screen flicker

Hey all,

Here to share my initial experiences with newest Razer Blade 15 (2021) 3080rtx 360hz.
1) Started off sloppy. First thing i noticed after setting up my new baby boy was that i was locked at 60hz. First time see this on laptop, first time issue.
2) Requested support and after some vague questioning I was asked to wait as the ticket was escalated to "Level 2 tech support". No feedback for a day.
3) Meanwhile I dug around, found that Nvidia Optimus could've been the reason - and there it is, I disabled it in BIOS, 360hz works smooth. On to play some games. Right? Wrong.
4) After a minute of playing any of more demanding games (BDO/POE), screen starts flickering like mad. And i mean, starts with a small flicker, goes into roid-rage flashing spree within a few minutes.

For the last part, no solution for now.
Things I checked for now:
1) Found some stuff about panel self-refresh in intel control panel, but it's not there for me/this hardware version (actually seems like intel discontinued it altogether).

2) Driver roll-back -> Found some people having issues with BSOD/screen-related-whatever for 30xx blades caused by Nvidia drivers. All of the above were on 461.72 so I recovered the system to roll back drivers back to supposedly-stable 457.63. Same thing.
3) Power modes - adaptive, optimized, fan speeds. All on laptop connected. Same thing.
4) Windows/Razer synapse updates - same issue prior/post update.

Worth noting, this happens only with 360hz. 60hz is clean and does not flicker.

I'd much appreciate if anyone had similar issue and resolved it, or if razer support could contact me with good insights.
Couldn't post a vid here, but looks kind of similar ingame to what the folks had here:

Cheers

Update: Screen flashes black when browsing Chrome even when on 60hz if Nvidia Optimus is off and game is running in the background (even when game is minimized to tray)

All or majority of rtx models of razer have this flicker/black screen issue. It is almost a year and they dont have a fix for black screen/flicker. RMA while you have the time bro or you are now a member in the cult of Flicker Blade 15

Hey there! Thanks for initiating this thread. Razer is aware of the laptop's display behavior. The team was able to replicate it with the Razer Blade 2021 (QHD 165 HZ) display after changing it in the dedicated GPU in BIOS or Synapse 3.0, then selecting GPU mode. After restarting the laptop, it will boot into a blank screen with the keyboard still lighted up. The team was able to confirm it by:

1. Connecting the laptop to an external monitor and the screen will show up at the monitor.
2. Also, after pressing and holding the power button to restart, the options to go into the BIOS screen will be displayed when restarting.
3.Please perform the following while the team is creating an official fix:

3.1. Connect the laptop to an external monitor. Go to Synapse 3 > GPU Mode > select "Nvidia Optimus" and restart. If there is no external monitor available, press and hold the power button to restart, go to BIOS > Chipset > GPU Mode, and select "Nvidia Optimus".
3.2. Roll Back to previous driver 457.63 ( or 27.21.14.5763 as seen in Device Manager):

a. Click Device Manager.
b. Double-click on Display Adapters.
c. Double-click on your NVIDIA GPU.
d. Select the Driver Tab.
e. Click on Roll Back Driver. If the Roll Back option is grayed out, please do F9 System Recovery and do not attempt to update the Nvidia Driver.

Feel free to send me a PM together with your laptop's serial number or case number or submit a case to our Support Team should you need additional assistance.
