Razer Blade 15 Advanced Late 2019 (RZ09-02888) - Windows Doesn't Boot after RAM Upgrade

Hello!

I have recently attempted to update my RAM from the stock 8gbx2 (2667 MHz) Samsung sticks to 16gbx2 (3200 MHz) Crucial. After getting the parts in the first time, my laptop boots fine, I am able to log in to Windows and operate normally.

The problem starts after a few minutes, after which I either freeze permanently or BSOD. After this occurs I am no longer able to boot into Windows and best case scenario I reach BIOS/Startup before I freeze or the display simply shows a black screen.

Given some of the bootup sequence being displayed I know it’s not a display issue. I have also replaced the new RAM with my previous RAM after which the machine is operable normally and without any issues, so clearly the problem appears to be the RAM.

I have been told repeatedly, by both Razer Support and Crucial Support ,that the RAM I’ve purchased to upgrade with is compatible (CT16G4SFRA32A / CT2K16G4SFRA32A) and that it should be plug and play, which seems like it almost is until it isn’t.

I am at my wits end here and do not want to continue putting unnecessary stress on my internal components by swapping, opening, closing, unplugging, and plugging back in to test every iteration and permutation yet again that gets me nowhere.

(After some browsing of suggested posts I’m assuming it’s due to the mismatch of the 2667 MHz and 3200 MHz, seemingly I can adjust this in the BIOS but folks don’t seem to have necessary success with that. I will continue looking and hope for any other info, I’d like to avoid potentially bricking my PC with a BIOS mistake)

Does anyone have any insight that might help?

Honestly, I would just avoid mismatching your RAM sticks. Just use the newer sticks and if that works, then those sticks aren’t compatible together because you are trying to have the 2 sets of RAM that have different speeds. The issue is most likely due to the sticks at 2667 MHz trying to run at 3200 MHz If you have any more questions, feel free to send me a PM.
