I’ve been using my Razer Blade 15 since the summer of 2019. About 3 weeks ago, there has been a very sudden change in my laptop in which the fans would spin up faster than I’ve ever seen them run in any normal usage (they are always set to auto in Synapse). The GPU would heat up to 91° or higher in a matter of seconds and then thermal throttle completely from 140+ FPS to <20 FPS in any games I launched. Not only this, but my laptop would run hot in ANY scenario- even while idling after startup with no running applications. All windows and nvidia graphics drivers are up to date. The BIOS is up to date. I have tried reinstalling Synapse and even tried keeping it uninstalled completely but this did not change anything. It was also heating up significantly just doing a complete factory reset and setting up the laptop from scratch. Before this I believed that it was a software problem causing these issues, so I did a teardown up to removing the heatsink. I’ve completely cleared the fans and vents of dust with a blow duster(there wasn’t much there- or at all to begin with, I clean it regularly). I’ve also went as far as replacing the thermal paste of both the GPU and CPU with brand new Corsair XTM50. After all this, my laptop is still having the same issues I stated before. The last thing I noticed is that while my laptop was getting hot around the middle above the keyboard, the areas to the left and right above the speakers were cool, and there was nothing but COLD air blowing out of the rear of the laptop. No hot air was being expelled through the rear, and I’m pretty certain this isn’t normal. I don’t know if that will help pinpoint the problem, but that’s just something I observed. I have tried contacting support in hopes they will take it in for repairs but I haven’t gotten a response back.
