Hi, I am having horrible performance in Destiny 2 with the combo in the thread title and am out of options to try. I am using a DisplayPort output to a single monitor and normally run in extended display mode while the AC adapter is plugged into the laptop. I have tried all the solutions that everyone has suggested that I could find:
  • Turning off VSYNC(monitor and card)
  • Making sure there are no framerate limits active.
  • Forcing windows to only use the external monitor as it's only display.
  • Turned off the game bar feature in Windows.
  • Turning off Fullscreen optimizations in the binary properties.
  • Running Destiny 2 in windowed mode.
  • Have the latest and greatest Video drivers
The audio pops at times and the FPS on Highest quality is around 24-30 FPS when seemingly using the 5700XT. To contrast that, if use the discrete 1060 (no Core-x) with the same settings, I get ~180 FPS, no audio issue at all. Anyone have a similar problem and/or setup? Is this the case of unproven drivers since the card is so new? As a side issue: I have also noticed that when using the eGPU(Core-x) I cannot use my externally powered USB 3.0 hub. Everything crawls to the point of not being able to run Destiny at all. Complete audio breakup and video slowdown as well as hindered mouse movement. Is there a ground loop or something? I was going to try a USB isolator. I wouldn't think that a hub on the USB 3.0 port could drastically affect the Bandwidth of the Thunderbolt port.

An omission to the side issue: A very important behavior that I did not convey in the first post was that that all devices on the hub would drop out and come back again over and over as if there was a power issue. I.E. the keyboard and mouse would constantly drop out and come back.... only during use of the Thunderbolt port.

Well an RTX 2070 runs fantastic so I am going to rule out any issues with the laptop or Core-X expander. It is my assumption at this point that the issues I have been seeing are attributed to brand new drivers and the normal growing pains of early adoption. Hopefully someone of influence is reading this and passes this info onto someone who can do something about it.

Hey there! Thanks for posting your concern to our Support board. Sorry to hear about your Razer Blade's poor and unusual performance. Let's investigate further. Do the poor performance and USB disconnection happen when plugging your Razer peripherals directly to the laptop without an external monitor connected? If the laptop did not showcase these issues, please add and connect the monitor to your in your setup. Try one monitor first, either via display or thunderbolt port and see if the issue still persists. I wanted to check if whether if this is a computer driver conflict or your ports are insufficiently providing power to each your devices.

Hey, here's the summary of what i tried and have discovered: The monitor is an LG 29UM67P with DIsplayPort and HDMI inputs. The powered USB hub I am using below is an AUKEY 10-Port Powered USB Hub, 3 Charging Ports, 7 USB 3.0 Data Ports, 12V/4A Power Adapter. No, as far as USB dropout, plugging peripherals directly into the usb ports without a hub does not cause an issue. Scenarios:
  • Peripherals plugged into laptop direct, external monitor. No issues, no drop-outs.
  • *Peripherals plugged into USB hub, external monitor. No issues, no drop-outs.
All of the issues I have experienced with USB issues involve the Core-X( 5700XT/RTX 2070)/External monitor combination. Using an RTX 2070.
  • Peripherals plugged into laptop direct, external monitor via Core-X. No issues, no drop-outs.
  • Peripherals plugged into USB hub, external monitor. Choppy audio, USB dropouts, FPS issues
I moved on from the 5700XT, all he previous scenarios are worse and the connected frame rate is horrible. PS- This is important, After I did the laptop only test with the Hub, I removed all devices from the hub and disconnected it. I then tried to plug in a keyboard and the USB port seemed to shut down. It would not detect devices until I restarted the laptop.

Well...... this sucks. Another USB 3,0 hub would not even detect..the port seemed to shut down. And.....................drum roll: I just turned on the Core-X with the 2070 is detected but won't start.... From Device Manager: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) Checked the physical installation of the card in the core-x. Tried reinstalling GeForce drivers with no effect (GeForce Experience). Couldn't uninstall the Thunderbolt software because it immediately re-installs itself. Tried following this to no avail:( not even for same model) https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/6dmycx/razer_core_gpu_not_recognized/ Man I'm starting to have doubts about my switch to a Razer laptop setup.. I am officially in need of support Razer.
