My i9-13950HX processor recently started acting strange. Typically, it's 45-60°C when idling and performing light tasks, 60-75°C when working, and 75-90°C when gaming, which is perfectly normal. But recently, a problem started.
At some random moment, seemingly due to a software bug, the CPU would reach 100°C, the clock speed would remain at 5-5.5 GHz, and the fans wouldn't do much to cool it (maximum fan speed doesn't help at this point). But in Task Manager only 5-10% of CPU usage. I found a temporary solution to prevent the processor from cooking itself: Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings -> Change advanced power settings (Power Options) -> Processor power management -> Processor performance boost mode -> Plugged in (change from Enabled to Disabled). This drops the processor temperature to 50-60°C and keeps the clock speed at no more than 2.1 GHz. This is clearly not a permanent solution, as processor performance is 3 times worse. If I switch Processor Performance Boost Mode back to Enabled, temperatures immediately rise to 100°C and the clock speed remains at 5-5.5 GHz. But after leaving it Disabled for a while and then randomly switching it back to Enabled, everything returns to normal operation, with normal temperatures.
I don't know what's happening or what the problem is, but this can't continue, and I hope it's a software issue that can be resolved with an update. In any case, I still have 3 months of warranty left, and I hope you can support me.
