Razer Blade 17 - 2020 and alternatives: Fan Noise | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
Hi,

I currently own the Razer Blade Pro 17 from 2020 (RZ09-0329, CPU: Intel 10875H, GPU: Geforce RTX 2080 Super) with a glossy 4K 120Hz Display. There is so much to love about this Laptop, the display is just friggin phenomenal!

However, I have one big issue with the Laptop which makes me consider to look elsewhere even if I don't really want to part with it: the fans are spinning even under light load scenarios and I can't seem to get rid of the fan noise...

I was wondering about the following things:

- is there a way to change the threshold for when the fans start to kick in? It seems the fans start to spin at around 50 C° and I would like to set the threshold to 60 C° instead if possible?

- Razer Synapse only lets me manually choose 2300 RPM and not 0 RPM on this model, I can set it to Auto and the fans will sometimes not spin but when the heat threshold is hit even under low productivity tasks, the fans start spinning again. Are the newer models such as the 2021 or 2022 models quit under less stressful tasks such as browsing and watching videos?

- I was interested in the 2022 model if its actually quiet under small load scenarios such as browsing and multitasking, but only in the 4K screen version. The 2022 model with 4K screen however is 144Hz now, does it still support 120Hz natively?

- I noticed that the fans are quiet when using Optimus, but I lose the 120Hz mode when using Optimus. If I were using the Razer Core X eGPU and put the Laptop in Optimus mode, would I have 120Hz again?

Thanks for your help
