Razer Blade 17 (2021, RZ09-0406) - Intermittent Charging / AC Power Detection Issue

Hi all,

I'm having a persistent power issue with my Razer Blade 17 (Mid-2021, RZ09-0406). The laptop randomly switches between "plugged in" and "on battery" mode, even though the charger is always connected. When it flips to battery mode, I notice performance dips (especially while gaming)

What I've Tried So Far:

  • Tested with a brand-new charger (issue persists)

  • Disabled Razer Synapse and background services

  • EC reset (60 sec power button with battery/charger removed)

  • Updated BIOS/firmware using Razer Updater (all up to date)

  • Inspected power port (no visible damage, solid connection)

  • Disconnected internal battery to run on AC only — issue still occurs

  • Full battery drain + recharge — no lasting effect

 

Are there any possible software-related causes for this? Anything else I can try before doing a factory reset and sending it over for repairs?
