Razer Blade 2022 14" Wifi Upload Slowness

Problem Statement:

The Qualcomm wifi card in the Razer Blade 14” 2022 Laptop, the QCNFA765, has what appears to be driver or hardware-related issues that began surfacing for folks across the internet within the last 12-18 months.

Upload speed, and acknowledgements for high speed downloads are atrocious. With upload speeds (speedtest.net) coming in at < 1Mbps. This performance issue occurs whether connected to my Wifi 5 Ubiquiti AC AP Pro at home, or whether tethered to my phone (iPhone 15 Pro Max).

Attempted Resolution:

Firstly, I tried updating the drivers. However, neither Razer nor Qualcomm have drivers available and we’re stuck to using what’s on Windows Update. The last couple of drivers, including the latest ones released to WU in the past couple of weeks, do not resolve this issue.

I attempted enforcing various Wifi modes in Device Manager, but to no avail.

Actual Fix:

I went ahead and purchased an Intel AX210 Wifi card for the laptop. After removing the bottom plate (Thanks iFixit for your amazing toolkit), popping in the new wifi card was easy. Once connected and Intel’s amazing wifi drivers installed, my download performance has improved, and my upload performance is > 300Mbps.

Suggestions for Razer:

Please contact Qualcomm and get them to release a fixed driver. This is a wifi card included in your product, and while you’re not directly at fault for issues that come about from Qualcomm’s decisions, it would be nice to see the OEM going to bat for its customers to the IHV to resolve this issue.

For everyone else, I’d recommend just swapping in an Intel AX210 NIC onto these laptops. It’s substantially better and will absolutely resolve the issue for you.
