Razer Blade Pro 17 2020 No XMP profile?

Hi,

I just received my Razer Blade Pro 17 (2020) yesterday and was seeking to upgrade the RAM. I installed my G.SKILL 32GB 3000MHz (16GB per stick) hoping to be able to go into the BIOS to use the XMP profile, however, I'm stuck with the ram running at the default speed of 2400MHz and no option for XMP shows up in the bios at this moment.

For the specs via CPU-z, look no further https://valid.x86.fr/v4ca2q
You'll see the XMP-2 profiles, but I can't access it in the BIOs. Can someone help? Thank you.

Currently looking to upgrade my RAM to 64GB any updates on which ones I should get in terms of speed and stability? I keep seeing mixed results...

Are you maybe confusing the G.Skill kit with the Crucial Ballistix kit? The G.Skill kit only runs at 1.2v, but the Ballistix were the ones that were seemingly causing people problems because of them running at 1.35v.

ah maybe. Honestly this is my 6th razer blade, i had issues with g skill and crucial way back and i grabbed the g.skill for this one and promptly realized my mistake. I've really ever only had good luck with xmp and the corsair sodimms in recent history.

the gskill kit will not work from what i understand, requires to much voltage when xmp is enabled perhaps.. mine just wouldn't boot so i turned it in and bought a kit of corsair xmp 3000 dominator and never looked back.

Hey all,

Sorry to reply to an old thread, but did anyone end up solving the XMP bios issue? I have a 2020 Blade 15 Base, and just bought the G.Skill F4-3200C18D-32GRS kit, but mine only runs at 2933. I'm on the bios version 1.3 (came with that version when I bought it) and there the "memory confirmation" option doesn't even show in the bios to allow me to elect the appropriate 3200 profile.

I can tell you, at least from some preliminary runs, sticking with the UV will more than likely be your best bet. Physics scores ( depending on Razer power settings) are between 16.8k to 19.4k .

I see a hard drop 1/2 though the run of 10fps.

As to the 3200 without enabling XMP, I would suspect that Razer
Sorry I have been away for a bit. Let me get that score.

One thing that i have noted is the RAM timings that are loaded (non-XMP) are extremely loose.
I am going to run a few tests and see what returns.

Did you have any of the power settings changed on your Razer Performance page for the Blade?

I have attached the screenshots of Hardware Info, that at least confirm my suspicion that the machines have issues with 1.35v XMP memory kits.

One odd thing to note, is that the G.Skill kit ( at least the one that i recieved) was running at 3200MHz with out the XMP enabled. Timings were a bit looser than what the XMP was configured for.

May you share FireStrike Physics score running at 3200mhz?

https://www.3dmark.com/fs/23008086

This is the top physics score I have running at 2933mhz with an -120 UV.
I am trying to know the results without UV but running at 3200mhz.

Thanks!
Ok, I guess I am talking to myself here. I might end up returning the G.Skill since I don't want to update the BIOS and loose UV. Although I might keep it in case a future BIOS update gives us both XMP and UV and sell the other RAM on Ebay or Amazon.

I just ordered the RAM you suggested. Did you have to go into the BIOS to get 3200mhz or did it just work at 3200mhz automatically when you booted?
I am running BIOS 1.0 and will confirm tomorrow if these G-Skill will default to 2400mhz or I get the full 3200mhz as advertised.

So after installing The G-Skill 32GB @ 3200mhz XMP 2.0 Model: F4-3200C18D-32GRS, with BIOS 1.0 I am not able to get 3200mhz, it does however default to 2933mhz, meaning it does work for those who simply want 32gb of RAM at the stock speed.

Now I am in a tough spot, I know if I update the BIOS to 1.3 I will most likely get to 3200mhz but I will loose undervolting. Do you guys think its worth loosing undervolt to get the extra clocks?

Thanks!

Yeah, that is not good at all. With the Crucial Kit, that i originally purchased, XMP system would run until used XTU to run a RAM test for 15+ minutes then crash. Default profile, it would function normally.

I have run the G.Skill kit for an hour and no issues.

One other test i ran was with Memtest, the Crucial Kit with XMP would not make it past the 4th test with our constant errors.

That kit will be interesting to hear about, with the those timings.

i just bought CT32G4SFD832A CL22 3200mhz 1.2v. I'll report back if it works with my late 2019 RBP 17

System booted into windows and crashed after about 30 seconds.

So you managed to get 3200Mhz without using XMP through the BIOS? I am very very curious to see if this could work with BIOS 1.0, I rather have Undervolting so I haven't upgraded the BIOS, so I wonder if I stick these babies in, will I get 3200Mhz and UV .. should I pull the trigger on these? ( I do wonder how much of a performance boost over 2933Mhz it really is.

These RAM issues are with the 2020 models.

They are also happening with the late 2019 RBP. At least they have been with mine.

I agree that the BIOS needs polishing, especially by what is considered and enthusiast product. I am not running a 64GB kits so i can not speak to that capacity. What XMP are you trying to run, I see that kit has 2 profiles, if i am looking at the right kit

I tried both profiles the default the computer did not even boot and I got BSOD. The second profile was able to boot up but after 5 min of usage, I got BSOD.

This is the model https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0848NL2BQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The machine is having issues with the 1.2v as well. I bought a second Razer Blade Pro 17 2020 just in case I had a faulty unit and I was having the same issue with the RAM on both laptops. I tried in both BIOS version 1.0 and 1.03. I think these RAM problems are a BIOS issue that Razer needs to address. I returned the HyperX Impact 64GB 2933MHz CL17 1.2v. And I bought a 64GB kit Samsung 2666MHz 1.2V... I don’t have any problem with these Samsung Ram but the downside is the speed is not near the default 2933MHZ that supports this laptop.

Short on time right now, but my machine is booting on the new RAM kit that i have. I will post more, later today.

Return it an get corsair vengeance 3000 xmp 16 or 17 cl 32 gig kits. They work fine. i don't think these boards support 3200 mhz memory

Out of curiosity, what are your timing on the kit? Also I am going to be doing a bit more investigating, got an odd hunch.
Thinking it might be a mem voltage issue.

Edit :

Well I think the RAM voltage may be the culprit, to some extent. From looking at the Stock Ram, it is running at 1.2v at 2933MHz. (Horrible Timings - 21-21-21-47)
The Crucial Ballistix kit is rated to run at the 3200 XMP setting at 1.35 volts.
The Corsair Kit that autoFawn has is rated to run the 3000 XMP at 1.2 volts.
I have ordered a different kit of RAM to test this, but we shall see.

Do they make a 64gb kit? did a google search and can only find 32
