Razer Blade Pro 17" Swollen Battery | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
I have a Razer Blade Pro 17" RZ09-02202 and recently had my battery swell up to the point the laptop would not close due to the pressure warping the keyboard.

I removed the battery for safety reasons.

Battery model RC30-0220

Obviously I am out of warranty.

I can not find a reliable in stock source for a replacement.

Anyone happen to have a source for these?

Thanks in advance!
Same problem... Is it working after removal of the battery on power?
Hi

Had the same problem with my 2017 Rz09-0166. The battery had swollen in a short space of time to the point it started to warp the aluminum case. It literally started to separate the front from the back shell. Massive fire hazard at this point so you wanna get it outta your house and off to a battery recycling place. I've seen lithium cells explode first hand and it ain't pretty.

Anyway, I am just as disappointed with the whole shitty support thing and zero spares availability from Razer. There is absolutely no way I can send my $6000 laptop overseas for repair from Australia. There is no local support either.

It is an unfortunate slogan for a company to say "For gamers, by gamers" when they don't even support their customers. The very people who buy these laptops are most likely the ones capable of undoing a few screws and popping a new battery in... sell some friggin spare parts Razer. Despite the performance of this laptop being otherwise good I definitely will not be buying another Razer product.

Anyway, I found a replacement battery from China. I suspect it is the exact place that makes them as it is absolutely identical to the one I removed (just not bloated yet). I was reluctant at first because there were many negative reviews of this electronics supplier via the usual laptop battery replacement websites... anyway, I had the shits and had no other option so I went ahead. It's only 100bucks. Despite all this the battery has been working fine for several months now. My bet is that the laptops simply don't have the ability to dissipate this much heat and it is highly likely I will face this situation again but I would buy another one from these guys no problem... so here's the link and the part number as per my paypal receipt. Price was Australian Dollars.
