Can't update it and tech support has no clue how to get this fixed. It is going to be escalated. Let's see how long it takes to get this resolved.

ok just updating here that the new 460.79 driver does not fix this, I've done a clean install of the driver after using driver cleaner in safe mode.
Razer Blade Pro 17 4K (late '19) - BIOS 1.04 - NVIDIA game ready driver 460.79
Can confirm that the problem still exists.
After closing cover and reopening, the screen stays black like all other versions after 452.06 and hibernation of the screen. Reverting back to 452.06 again.

460.79 definitely works fine for me, as were the 457.30.
People having the black screen, can you please put some details about your config in your post (model, screen, windows version, etc.) ? To help pinpoint the hardware or software affected.

Windows build 19042.685 with windows experience pack 120.2212.551.0
All Nvidia drivers after 452.06 have this black screen from resume from sleep or hibernation issue, and the issue even happens with some resolution changes when games switch to 1440p.
The only fix I've had is either using an external monitor (not practical I use this laptop for business too and used to travel with it a lot and will again when things open up again). or to revert back to an older driver or use Optimus at 60hz refresh rate. None of these fixes are ok by me

Quick question, Any reason to update the driver till the issue is confirmed fixed? do we lose any functionality
Security fixes, improved stability especially with newer games. E.g. the latest driver improves performance for the recently released Cyberpunk 2077

Well, for those who are trying to run Cyberpunk 2077 on their new rigs - I can tell you that Driver Update 460.79 (Game Ready) yields MASSIVE performance gains over the previous editions.
So, I've gone through the trouble shooting emails with Razer re: my Razer Blade 17 Pro 2020, 4K120, 2080S, Bios 1.06, Dedicated GPU 120 Hz and they've told me I need to send it in. My question is - is it worth the hassle of doing all of this, being without a laptop for who knows how long - when it seems we ALL have this black screen problem where we can't update GPU drivers? Honestly, if I go through this then get back the exact same machine (or someone elses refurb) and still have the same issues, I'm not going to be very happy. Also, my return window might be closed to get my money back.
I'm really struggling with this decision. Do I just cut ties and return it, or do I wait it out and hope I get the laptop I THOUGH I was paying 5k for?

Will soon not be able to play games as many are now requiring more recent driver versions. Get your act together razer

My suggestion would be to return the product while you still are able. If the item does not bring you joy, there are plenty of alternatives available during this PC gaming renaissance market. Also, it may be worth considering looking into an nVidia 3000-series powered device after you complete the return, should you choose to do so.

Hmmh? Same models same drivers, the only difference is I'm still on win 2004 instead of 20h2. I dont have the issue, but had it in past.
Maybe i can help and we can compare further specs.
I think the behavior of razer in this case in not professional. They should come out with an official statememt.
Hey everyone! I've coordinated with our Support Team and showed them your feedbacks after updating the laptop's NVIDIA driver. Please expect another NVIDIA driver updates since the issue is unresolved after the last firmware release. Please wait for the Razer Blade Pro 17" (2019) | RZ09-0314x and Razer Blade Pro 17" (2020) | RZ09-0329x further announcement here or on our support site.

This issue will NOT BE FIXED with a NVIDIA driver update.
We require a BIOS update, ideally this BIOS update will also include a -100 CPU under volt and or unlock XTU access, our CPU performance was reduced by 30% compared to BIOS 1.0, the original BIOS this laptop shipped with and all for naught since the black screen issues persist.
I still can't believe that RAZER cares so little about their top tier customers.

Unless you can get a refund, which if I understand corrrectly you can't. Sending the laptop in won't fix the black screen issue..... UNLESS and this is a very very tedius process but if you can pull it of, it technically fixes many problems.
1) Have them reset the BIOS to the original 1.0 BIOS
2) Install an older version of Windows prior to version 2004
3) Never upgrade NVIDIA drivers past the original it shipped with
Essentially, this laptop a an OP BEAST when it first shipped, at times rivaling the Alienware Area 51 in performance, however RAZER crippled it significantly with the upgraded BIOS they posted to fix the black screen. I used to get around 23,000 in firestrike with BIOS 1.0, now Iam lucky to get 19,000.

Thanks for the feedback. The team is working on this issue. We'll send updates via Razer Synapse 3.0 or through our support site.

WHICH BIOS SHOULD THE RAZER BLADE PRO 17 2020 4K 120 HZ HAVE INSTALLED?
I found on the razer website that there is a newer bios version, 1.06.
I update it?

Ugh I hope this gets resolved soon...going on 5 months now. Using 452.06 driver sucks with the new games out. Still want to know what the actual issue is. Is it firmware on your end?

Jealous you can even get into windows to hibernate. Once I login to windows that's when mine goes black.
I'm trying a few things out and will report back my findings

Mine is the 2020 version and v1.06 bios but still strange behavior. I'll report anything I find later today.
