Razer Blade Stealth (2017) no power, no lights, no response. | Razer Insider

I have culled the interwebs and found similar issues but others seem to still get the light on the front. I do not get anything. I removed the battery, replaced the battery and used other power adapters. I have been in IT for over 20 years, I have a good idea of how to fix machines but this one needs someone who can diagnose the motherboard or internal power.

Since I have two of the same type I have known good power source in the way of OEM chargers and also aftermarket USB-C power, they charge the other Stealth but not this one.

I tried to see how much Razer would charge but since it's not under warranty I couldn't even find a place to get an estimate. Just find a "Your system is no longer covered under limited warranty".

I do not want to scrap such a beautiful machine but I do not know where to go for a diagnostic and estimate for repair. Any help is appreciated.

This one is the Gunmetal with the white keyboard backlight model: (*Omitted).
Update: I pulled the battery out of the working Stealth, put it into this one and the keyboard lights up, no other response. Hold power for 30 seconds and the lights turn off, then come back on.

A Bright light shining on the screen doesn't show any activity so I don't think it's the backlight. I also plug in a monitor to the HDMI port and nothing comes up, doesn't even bring the monitor out or power save mode.

Also, still no LED on the front when I plug it into a known good power cable.

Suspecting a dead motherboard.

Hey there! Thanks for updating your post. It seems like a hardware issue to me as well. I suggest submitting a case to our Support Team since they can provide repairs for laptops that are already outside Razer's limited warranty by clicking this link. Else, send me a PM so I can gather your laptop's details and forward it to the team.
I opened a case and followed the support but decided to just buy a new mainboard. That resolved the booting issue; however, the Chroma no longer shows up in Synapse... It is stuck in the last profile that it was using before it died. I know there was a non-chroma keyboard version of the Stealth 13 but I would assume it would detect the keyboard or at least let me turn all the keys on... See picture, Synapse 2.0 only shows the monochrome settings and the Chroma Studio says no compatible device available...

Any help with this @Razer.SpeedCr0ss ? Is there a reg key I can edit to force it to allow me to edit my keys again?
Ah yes; I found the problem. I assumed I needed the daughter card that came with the replacement mainboard when I installed that; I see now that the version is different. I put the original daughter board back in and Chroma showed back up.

Finally have my Stealth 13 back up and running again! WOOT!

Recap:

Unit most likely overheated due to a combination; 1 herd of dust bunnies in the heatsink restricting airflow and a battery that overheated and expanded. Most likely overheated the mainboard/processor. The computer would not power on at all, no response whatsoever.

I bought a used mainboard off eBay (about $300) and installed it. Cleaned out the dust bunnies, polished the copper die on the heatsink and reseated using a carbon based high performance thermal paste.

Assembled along with a new battery and was able to get it to power up. Updated firmware on "new" board (which is actually a 2016 serial number while my unit is a 2017... don't see a difference as both are 7thGen i7 with 16GB of RAM and Intel video.

Keyboard was stuck with monchrome settings. swapped out daughterboard and rebooted. Came up and gave me settings again.

Finally, once everything was working properly I installed a new 512GB XPG NVME to replace the stock 512GB PCIe drive.

Profit.

I appreciate the update. I'm glad that you were able to get a spare mainboard from eBay and wittingly figured out a workaround. I will lock this thread now as resolve but will still keep so the other users can see your stupendous work.
