Razer Cortex causes PC to Freeze/Slow Down | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
Good Day,

I recently purchased a new PC with the following specs

  • MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX

  • NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX™️ 3060 TI - EVGA XC GAMING

  • AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core 3.6GHz

  • NZXT C750 Gold

  • Team T-FORCE Delta RGB 3200MHz 3200 MHz (max speed) 16GB (2 X 8 GB)

  • Western Digital SN550 (500.0 GB)

When game booster starts everything is fine but when It goes to put the memory back the machine slows down to a crawl, so I can click on icons or the start menu but nothing is responsive, even when I control alt delete it begins the restart and just hangs.

I tried this multiple times with different games, from MTGA to WoW and it did the same thing every time. Has anyone come across this before? I have tried reinstalling the software and even a format of the pc with a clean install but no change.

I have uninstalled all the Razer software atm and have not had any lockups since. Anyone else had this issue?
Hey there!

Thank you for sharing Cortex's concern here. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. My name is Michelle from the Razer Cortex Technical Support Team. I will be your technical companion for today.

Regarding your issue, could you please try to disable the 'Auto-Boost' feature in GAME BOOSTER- BOOST? Please feel free to let us know if this issue persists.

Thank you for your patience.

Best regards,

Thank you for the reply, I completely uninstalled all of the Razer software, and have not had an issue since ( about 36 hours now ). Looking at my reliability monitor game manager service keep stopping along with Razer cortex and this seemed to be causing my pc issues.

I am reluctant to reinstall the service since I do not want to have to keep hard disconnecting my computer, I am disappointed though since I own a Razer Naga Trinity, Razer Firefly V2, and a Razer Kraken Ultimate headset.
