Razer Cynosa Chroma Function shortcuts not working properly

The function keys on my keyboard, cynosa chroma, don't work.  When I press the “fn” key to access secondary functions of the F1-F12 keys, the secondary “fn” operations don’t work.  The F1-F12 key row lights up when I press the “fn” button, but they do nothing when I then press one of the F# keys while holding down the “fn” button.  I specifically want this to work for volume up/down, but none of the F keys work in this fashion.

I am running:

  • Razer Cynosa Chroma keyboard
  • Razer Synapse version 3.10.315.31117 (20250324 version, no newer versions available)
  • Windows 11 Home, 24H2 update
  • No key customizations or game profiles in the Synapse program; I only use the Synapse program to adjust the lighting of the keyboard

What I have tried:

  • Different USB ports--NO EFFECT
  • Reset keyboard in the Synapse program--NO EFFECT
  • Uninstalling the Synapse program and deleting the Razer folder.  Rebooting windows and reinstalling the Synapse program--NO EFFECT; as long as the Synapse program is running and I am singed into the Synapse program, the fn+F# secondary operations DO NOT work.
  • Closing the Synapse program--This ALLOWS the fn+F# secondary operations to work.
  • Logging out of my profile in the Synapse program and using as “guest” but keeping the program open--NO EFFECT

While closing the synapse program does allow the fn+F# operations to work, this is not a solution since I cannot adjust the keyboard lighting.  I don’t understand why this won’t work as soon as I am signed into the synapse program.

Are you connecting the headset directly to your computer’s USB port (not into a USB hub)? Also, did you try connecting the keyboard to another PC?  Otherwise, try installing the Razer Driver Clean-up tool to remove all Razer Synapse 3 folders/files and restart your PC. Once done, please reinstall Synapse 3 and its available updates, including from the Windows OS. Feel free to send me a PM should you need additional assistance.
