Razer Nommo Pro - 2.1 Idle Auto-Shutdown can't be disabled

Hi there.

I recently purchased a Razer Nommo Pro - 2.1 Gaming Speaker on Amazon. It escaped my attention at the time (and I’ve been kicking myself since) was that it is a refurbished model. Why am I kicking myself? Well, the speakers work great and the subwoofer is doing all of the required subwoofing… but I suspect that the reason the item was returned and “refurbished” in the first place is due to a subtle problem that might have escaped those testing it.

When the speakers have been idle for a certain time period, the speakers auto power off. This requires the button on the speaker’s control hub to be pressed in order to power them back on again. I go through this routine at least a dozen times per session… and my sanity is starting to fray at the edges.

I downloaded and installed Razer Synapse (both available versions from the site) and on both versions of the software there is no option to disable the auto-shutdown. I’ve seen screenshots where the button does appear, but it isn’t appearing for me.

Googling showed me that there is a shortcut that doesn’t require software: hold in the power button (at the back of the subwoofer) until you hear a click… then press the button on the control pad.

I heard no click.

Assuming the click was silent, but the actions would still work, I pressed the button on the control pad hoping that it would still disable the shutdown. It didn’t.

I’m now stuck with a peripheral (that is older than I intended to buy) that works, but works annoyingly.

The kicker is, I already had a perfect working 2:1 speaker system, but the auto-shutdown and power-up meant that I lost the first 3 seconds of audio when sound played for the first time in a while.

So my side-step “upgrade” turned into a downgrade. I still have the same problem, but now I have to physically press the button rather than lose 3 seconds without pressing a button.

Can anyone help end my nightmare? Perhaps there’s an old version of Razer Synapse that will actually allow me to change that setting? Or… just… anything. Please help.
