Razer Raptor 27" black screen and flickering lines. Unable to update firmware.

networkLightKhakibest584

Everything was working fine. Then I started playing APEX for 5 minutes to check the quality and after turning it off, the screen started going black for a few seconds every 5 seconds or so. After a while, it stopped going black, but there were flickering horizontal lines across the screen.

To try and solve the problem, I attempted to update the firmware from 1.0.3.0 to 1.6.0.0 but I encountered a problem that many others have clearly had. I connected my screen to the USB-C port on my PC with no adapters whatsoever and the update button is still greyed out.

I tried contacting support and after entering my serial number, Razer explained that I am not entitled to receive any support as the warranty has expired. That was very disappointing to see. Reputable companies do not operate in such a way IMO.

I'm hoping that I will receive some support from a member of Razer here to help fix this problem. Many others are experiencing it. Kindly fix this problem with the Firmware Update software and provide users with an alternative way to update (e.g via usb or synapse)

I find this reply depressingly helpful as it reaffirms that many of us seem to be unable to update the firmware and razer unwilling to confirm which theories are helpful and which are bogus. My screen suffers from flickering and I found out an update fixes this. But guess what, I can't update.

I have used usb-c from computer to usb-c to monitor, but I get a greyed out update button. Setting the monitor usb-c only gives me a black screen.

I have used displayport from gpu (due to lack of usb-c on gpu) to usb-c to monitor, but I get a greyed out update button. Setting the monitor usb-c only gives me a black screen.

What's weird, my wife has the exact same monitor and the exact same problem described above.

Surely we must be missing SOMETHING. Maybe a simple setting, somewhere, we all who are experiencing problems have in common.

And yes, I have tried turning the monitor on and off. Didn't work either.

My Razer Raptor 27” 165hz doesn't have that issue but i am also unable to update the firmware, while it's directly connected with a USB-C cable to my USB-C PC port (and a cable from my DP port to my GPU). I am alway connected  through USB-C, for controlling my monitor, but it does not work. Even if i disconnect and reconnect my USB-C cable, it still doesn't let me update the firmware. I searched every sourch for a solution but could not find anything usefull. Even Razer itself does not mention anything, except

  1. Turn on your Razer Raptor 27.

Note: Display output must be via USB-C port (monitor input source: Type-C).

  2. Connect the Razer Raptor 27 to the USB-C port of your PC

Note: You must connect directly to the USB-C port on your PC. Do not use a USB-C adapter or hub.

  3. Click "UPDATE" to initialize the update process.

My GPU doesn't have a USB-C connection, but Razer says clearly “your PC” and not “your GPU”  I am still waiting for a solution………………………..
