Razor Blade Advanced 15 (2021) high pitched fan noise | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
Even when the system is basically idle, the fan makes a continuous and high-pitched noise. I've owned dozens of laptops, including 2 previous Razor Blades and never experienced anything like this. I plan to use this system all day, every day for work, play and entertainment. I spend most of that time hooked up to an HDMI 2.0 1440p 144 Hz display and a Razor keyboard and mouse. Simply opening a browser window and typing (like now) is enough to cause the fans to generate a high-pitched whine. Is there any way to fix this, or is a patch or fix forthcoming from Razor?

I've tried changing the Synapse settings in a few different ways, including manual and custom. Nothing seems to help. If I unplug all my devices and switch to the Intel GPU, it gets better, but that's not viable when using HDMI or DP displays at 1440p and > 60Hz.

I've opened a case here: *Removed from public view.

Anybody else experiencing this with the new RTX 30 models?
Is this happening right out of the box, and have there been any changes to the system before this started? There is a good chance that the GPU driver version you have hasn't been validated for the laptop, so you will want to try to roll it back to an older version. Do send me the serial number of the laptop along with your ticket number. That way, we can avoid redundancies with the troubleshooting.
