RZ09-03289E21 - Display - Residual Image/Bios Partial Display

Hi all,

My RZ09-03289E21 has started to have display issues, but more concerningly it’s preventing my from the bios.

Normally, I have a HDMI secondary Monitor. I reduced the refresh rate to 60Hz as the laptop display freaks out.

Current the drivers are all up to date and Windows has the NVIDIA driver set to be the Primary Source of Graphic not processor.

My issue is the laptop display is now occasionally showing a Residual / Transparent image of a window I have just closed or moved.

I thought I would check Bios to see if there is any updates I could run, but I found if I press F9, only the first 1-2cm of the Bios Screen is displayed the rest is blank.

This is confusing and If windows if displaying an image, the bios should show with no issues.

My thought that the Bios may be corrupted, and I though I would try an update, RazerUpdater_v1.1.1.2_DA550-BIOSv0106.exe says my bios is already correct and it doesn’t give the option to update.

I read on the forum that if you unzip the .exe, you can view the torden.ini, I thought changing the version could be a way to update the bios, but I’m not willing to try until checking on the forum of any ideas.

As it’s my CAD work pc, I don’t want to screw it up.

Any suggestions would be most helpful.

Update - Still have the issue with the Bios, but I believe I have found some more clues.

Regarding windows and the residual image, the frame rate was 60.025Hz, and I read on the forum that is you use CRU.exe, you can setup another display profile with reduced frame rate. I setup 50Hz and I no longer get the residual image, it’s more reliable.

Through windows I also tried to change the screen resolution from 1920x1080 to a lower screen resolution and I get exacting what I see when in bios. The top 1-2cm of the Screen is displayed the rest is blank.

This make me think that when in bios, the screen resolution is changing to a Non 1920x1080 format and for whatever reason, either the Laptop Display/Intel graphics/Nvidia hardware doesn’t like it.

Still open to any thoughts..
