Surround Legacy (Synapse 2) NOT working with Win10 2004

I wonder if Razer is aware, or cares, seeing as this is a legacy platform, that the older Surround driver sounds improper on Windows 10 build 2004, or version 19041.33. An incredible amount of crackling and distortion present, also not the first time Windows 10 builds have broken compatibility with this. I'll try some troubleshooting through Windows channels, but it seems another update is due.

I was tempted to try this fix but it seems after rolling back to 1909 from 2004, I no longer have the option to update to 2004 from the Windows Update screen.
Anyone else who rolled back experiencing this?

Just google "Windows 10 media creation tool". Should be the top result after any ads. Hit the blue Update Now button. When you run it you've got an option along the lines of "Upgrade this PC now"

HeatWaveleetRUBY545Glad it worked for you, I've just tried it and made no difference on my PC :(
Fixed mine by reinstalling the driver and restarting the service. Working on a fully patched version of Windows 10 2004 and after multiple restarts. My guess is Windows isn't installing the driver properly when it's doing the upgrade to 2004. If someone else wants to give this a go and report back...?: 1) Right click your start menu and select Device Manager. 2) Drop the arrow down on the "Sound, video and game controllers" option. Right click "Razer Surround Audio Controller" then Uninstall device. Click the option to uninstall. 4a) Normally at this point you can click the "Scan for hardware changes" button but that didn't seem to help for me. I had to manually select the driver using the following method: 4b) Click Action at the top then "Add legacy hardware". Click Next then select the (Advanced) option. Find and highlight "Sound, video and game controllers" in the list and click Next. Find "Razer Inc" in the left-hand list then you should see Razer Surround Audio Controller on the right. Highlight it and click Next. Click Next again to install it. (If the Razer Synapse window pops open at this point, just close it. I seem to remember mine did.) You can now close Device Manager. 5) Do a search on the start menu for "Services" (it's the one with two cogs), and open it. 6) Find "Razer Surround Audio Service" in the list, right click it and select Restart. 7) Open the Synapse app and try configuring it to use the right audio device then hit the button to turn it on, or toggle it off and back on. If this works for anyone I'll take payment in Blade laptops, Razer support :wink_:

Happening to my Kraken Pro (2015). Perfectly good headset. Forced to use the windows settings and Realtek sound, which gives me no control over my sound options/settings. The headset is at least working, but on full bass and just sounds horrible without the surround sound software.
If Razer doesn't fix this then I guess they don't care about their legacy products or their customers. And it would seem that I have to replace a perfectly good headset. If this is the case then goodbye Razer. I'll find another company that cares, if one exists.

Any of these tips worked for me,sadly, still waiting for the Razer to fix the issue but slowly losing the hope.

It's been what now? A month? Seems no real solution here o_O. Been using surround pro for years now. It would be such a shame if I'm considering to ditch surround pro and considering other options

Yup, working since I bought mine in 2015, and it's still like new. But all of a sudden after windows update, none of the software works properly. At least I still have a headset and it still works, but it sounds horrible without it's software.
I've been trying to get a Steelseries headset for a couple of months now, but they have been sold out everywhere.
I am quite annoyed, I may just break down and roll back my win update

I`ve no idea how to replace that if we decide to completely give up on this

Does THX Spatial Audio work on Windows 10 Update 2004 without any crackling though?
If it does what Razer Surround does, I'm okay with spending 20$ to get it. Good thing I don't have to buy another headset.

Twitch.tv-BlastryanMaybe you could help me, basically yesterday I configured my left click to change to a Macro. After that, the side of the scroll (when I just held on it) started hitting 16-17 CPS (In Minecraft) and I was really happy. Today I wake up to see that it doesn't work anymore for some reason. I'm really frustrated now. I forgot what I configured my mouse to.
i hope they will update Synapse 2 .....

I'm not happy about paying even $5 for the THX Spatial Audio or any other software to make this headset work the way it's supposed to. To me it's a matter of principle. Back in 2015 I paid good money for this headset, and even then I found it a little weird that I had to register the headset and provide activation code in order to use the software.
I understand if the product was 10+ years old and you don't support it anymore, but 5 years, come on.
So for me, principle is very simple, I just won't buy their products again.
I have already purchased a Steelseries headset. It'll be my first from them and hopefully they'll stand behind their products.

Let's not forget that the app only stopped working after Windows version 2004, so keep your conspiracy theories to yourselves. Do note that this isn't something that we can pull out of a hat especially since the problem is directly related to a Windows update. We'd appreciate it if you send us logs instead of posting salty if not, hateful comments.
