I need to create a system recovery stick in order to install a new hard drive. Is it possible to use an external hard drive or SD card instead of a USB flash drive for this purpose, or does it need to be a USB flash drive?
Thank you!

The system recovery stick creation just requires a secondary storage drive with at least 32 GB capacity. Ensure to format it to NTFS. It is recommended to use a USB 3.0 driver to shorten the duration of the recovery process. Do not use a switch or USB hub during the recovery stick creation.
