Two questions about Synapse...

From what I can remember, Ambient Awareness reads what is currently on your monitor, and uses any color information there (usually toward the bottom) and tries to match the lighting on your keyboard with your monitor, so that it seems as if your keyboard is a kind of extension of your monitor, lighting-wise. You're absolutely correct about the combination/layering of effects. I currently have my BlackWidow Chroma Stealth, Tartarus v2, and Naga Trinity at work setup up with a combination of a wheel effect (fairly fast in a clockwise direction, with the front line of the effect in Razer green, tapering off to a dark blue, so that my keys remain dark blue most of the time), a ripple effect (fast and wide with no repeat, in Razer green), and Reactive (with a short decay in Razer green). The wheel goes non-stop, and the other two happen simultaneously over the wheel effect whenever I press a key on either keypad/keyboard or a mouse button. When that same BWCS is connected to my MacBook Pro (I know, I know), it is set very differently: most keys are set to a static color, although my color scheme is a bit all over the place; the Fn row does a multi-color wave in one direction; the numrow keys do that same wave in the opposite directions; and I have a narrow, fast BLACK Ripple effect upon keypress. There are some layer combinations that simply won't work together (like Static + Fire, since the Fire effect information overrides the static colors anyway ... and I was never able to get a black Ripple effect going with Fire either), and some that work best when you have a particular effect on top of another: the layer order is important. With my second example above - the BWCS connected to my MBP - the static layer is on the bottom. If it was on top of the Wave effects, the waves wouldn't show up, since the specific color information in the static layer would be covering the Wave layer. Hope this helps!

If it was on top of the Wave effects, the waves wouldn't show up, since the specific color information in the static layer would be covering the Wave layer. Hope this helps!

Missed this first read. Thank you. I do think that the documentation could be better. Another observation / question: I finally found some profiles for the Cynosa on this site but no obvious way to know what file format they are in or where they need to reside on my computer. And those made for the Cynosa don't offer a preview, either. ??

If you click on the Download button (since you said "this site" I'm assuming it's an official Razer site), it will prompt you to save the profile onto your computer. The file name should be something along the lines of "nameofprofile.chromaeffects.zip". Then you can import that file to your Synapse 3 and apply the effects to your Cynosa. As far as seeing them before-hand, I think your best shot would be to try to find the programmer and the name of the profile on YouTube. Even the videos that are featured on the site I linked to above are just YouTube vids.
