Hello together,
I am using Windows 11 23h2 with 2 accounts, admin and standard user account. I am logged in in standard user and when installing applications it prompts for admin password.
I am using Razer Synapse 3 at the moment for my Razer Deathadder v2.
The synapse software now offers me to upgrade to Synapse 4.
When trying to update over Synapse 3 the update does not start.
Installation method 1: Then I downloaded the latest installer, installed it from a standard windows user account with no admin right and when prompted during installation I entered credentials for admin user account.
The installation succeeded, but also failed, due to the fact, when it tries to start a file, that is located in admin user account directory, which cannot be accessed by standard user account.
When trying to start Razer Synapse 4 it manually it always prompts for admin password and due to that, the application does not start automatically when booting windows.
Installation method 2: I found out that this behavior can be tricked by raising the standard user account to administrator, then installing synapse 4 and after that withdraw the rights again and make the user standard again.
Then synapse starts with windows and does not ask for admin password anymore in a standard user account.
To be honest I find it unpleasant that I either have to trick it so that Synapse starts automatically (Installation method 2) or that Synapse does not start because of lacking permissions (Installation method 1).
The question now is which method of installation should be used, so that everything is working fine including updates etc..
In case installation method 1 should be used how can I configure the corresponding synapse exe to start with admin rights automatically without always prompting for password?
Or is there a way to install Razer synapse 4 with standard user account and prompt for admin password so that it is working like Razer Synapse 3 did without having to give permissions when booting up or tricking it out?
Otherwise it seems a bit like a security lack to me .
At the moment I also think about staying on Synapse 3 as long as possible hoping that Razer fixes that behaviour so that it works like on Synapse 3 with a standard user account
Is there a real reason to update to synapse 4 at the moment when I am pleased with synapse 3 and its features?
How long is Synapse 3 and my razer deathadder v2 still getting updates especially concerning security? is there an official time mentioned somewhere? or do i have to update to synapse 4 soon?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Greetings
