Hi Razer Support,

This is a follow-up to my earlier thread from April 2025. That thread was moved to PM and never reached a solution:
https://insider.razer.com/razer-support-45/can-t-re-pair-razer-viper-v3-hyperspeed-with-hyperpolling-dongle-after-firmware-update-76170

Background

The original HyperSpeed receiver of my Viper V3 HyperSpeed was damaged. The mouse has no USB port and no Bluetooth, so a HyperPolling Wireless Dongle is my only way to use it.

In April 2025, my first HyperPolling dongle paired fine at first. After I unpaired it, Synapse started a dongle firmware update. Nothing was updated on the mouse, and the mouse could never be paired again.

I recently bought a brand-new HyperPolling Wireless Dongle to see if this had been fixed. Synapse reported firmware 2.1.0.0 on it the first time it checked, and no update was run on it. It fails in exactly the same way.

What the Synapse 4 logs show

  • Dongle: VID_1532 & PID_00B3, firmware 2.1.0.0 (the latest mouse firmware Synapse offers).
  • Scan: the dongle finds the mouse in 16 of 17 scans (deviceCount = 1, productId 184).
  • Pairing command: the dongle accepts "Set Device Pairing Mode" (mode Start, productId 184) with status SUCCESS.
  • Result: 0.4–2.6 seconds later, the dongle reports PairingTimeout, and Synapse logs "Fail to bind device". This happened in all 16 pairing attempts.
  • Procedure: I followed the official steps (a_id 6143). The mouse was on, no other dongle was connected, the mouse was right next to the dongle, and I held a button during the scan.

Log excerpt from one attempt (trimmed):
[2026/10/06 11:06:47.731] [duallink] scanDevice onHardwareEvent 55 {"status":2,"statusEnum":"End","deviceCount":1,"device_1_productId":184, …}

[2026/10/06 11:06:47.741] [duallink] handleHardwareEvent 5 54 {"status":1,"statusEnum":"ParingStart"}

[2026/10/06 11:06:47.765] [duallink] binded {"status":"SUCCESS", … "jsonData":{"mode":1,"modeEnum":"Start","productId":184}, … "commandDesc":"Set Device Pairing Mode"}

[2026/10/06 11:06:49.619] [duallink] handleHardwareEvent 5 54 {"status":3,"statusEnum":"PairingTimeout"}

[2026/10/06 11:06:49.621] error: errMsg Fail to bind device

My understanding is that dongle firmware 2.x can no longer bind with the older firmware on my mouse. The mouse can't be updated without a working wireless connection, as confirmed in my previous case.

This is a risk-management problem, not a pairing mistake

  • The update was started by Synapse. I didn't run any updater, and nothing in the process updated the mouse.
  • There was no warning. Nothing told me that updating the dongle alone could permanently cut off a mouse that can only be reached wirelessly.
  • The official updater has the same gap. Razer's HyperPolling Dongle Firmware Updater (a_id 13746) updates the dongle first and lets the user skip the mouse step. For the Viper V3 HyperSpeed, the mouse step needs a working wireless link, which is exactly what breaks after the dongle update.
  • No compatibility check is visible. In the current Synapse logs, the update decision is based only on the dongle's own version. I see no check against the firmware of the mouse that depends on it.
  • There is no way back. There is no rollback and no older firmware to download, so a single update cannot be undone.
  • There is no recovery path for me. A replacement receiver to update the mouse can't be shipped to Vietnam, as I was told in my previous case. New dongles also ship with the same firmware.

The result: a mouse that worked became unusable after a routine update in Razer's own software, and it has stayed that way for about 1.5 years.

What I'm asking for

Since even a brand-new dongle ships with firmware 2.1.0.0, a replacement dongle would not solve this. What I need is either an older dongle firmware or a way to update the mouse:

  1. An older HyperPolling Dongle firmware (1.x, for example the v1.03.00 updater), so I can pair the mouse first and then update it; or
  2. A way to update the Viper V3 HyperSpeed firmware through the HyperPolling Dongle; or
  3. Any other workaround the Technical Team can suggest.

Thank you!
