volume somewhat randomly goes all the way up or down to 100% or 0% when I try to change the volume with media keys

When every I try to change the volume on my computer using the media keys in the top right of my keyboard nothing happens and then 5 seconds later the volume will dramatically change either up or down seemingly randomly. I’ve noticed it sometimes feels delayed, like the button presses have been queued in the order I press them. In short, if I tap a volume key it acts like I'm holding it down and wont stop no matter what I do, the amount of time its held down always seems the same as well. And as of me writing this, my mute key has ceased to function correctly as well, doing the same as the volume keys. My change track and start/stop keys are still fine.
