I RMA'd the machine, got it fixed, and now it's working again. So far so good.
Here's my problem: I would like to make sure the BIOS and other firmwares are up to date, but I'm scared to run anything. It doesn't help that the layout of the support page is kind of confusing. So I want to ask the folks on this forum: what's safe to run, in your experience?
- My BIOS is at version 2.02. The support page suggests I should update to 2.03. However, the download link given is for a computer with a "6700U" processor, not the "6700HQ" that I supposedly have. Is that a misprint, or is it the BIOS upgrade likely to brick my machine because it's for a different processor?
- My ME firmware is at version 11.8.65.3590. The support website offers "ME-11.8.65.3590-v2" and "ME-11.8.60.3590-v3" as potential upgrades. I'm guessing the "v3" is the most recent...but is it safe?
As you can tell, I'm feeling paranoid. If anyone has experience to offer here, I'd be grateful.
