Wifi Adapter Intel BE200 disappeared from device manager - Razer Blade 16 2023

Bought an Intel BE200 to replace the Wifi6E WiFi adapter on my Razer Blade 2023. On initial boot it was working, but upon an cold restart (Shutdown), the laptop is unable to detect the WiFi adapter, prompting error code 45 in Device Manager, resulting in no WiFi capability.

Gotten a MT7927 instead and it works perfectly with no issues as compared to the BE200

Current public releases of Windows 11 currently do not 100% fully support WiFi 7 cards and this is why OEMs are not preinstalling WiFi 7 cards in new computers to the masses just yet because Windows 11 24H2 is required to support these cards (which you can get 24H2 in the Release Preview stage and it is mostly stable).

You also need to be using Intel WiFi Driver Kit 23.60 at the very minimum for WiFi 7 cards as they give the support for them with that driver (Available @ https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19351/intel-wireless-wi-fi-drivers-for-windows-10-and-windows-11.html).

https://www.windowslatest.com/2024/06/21/microsoft-doc-says-wi-fi-7-is-limited-to-windows-11-24h2-at-least-for-now/

https://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-official-doc-suggests-upgrading-to-windows-11-24h2-may-be-necessary-for-wi-fi-7/

Thanks for the reply, but I'm already using 24H2 pre-releaae Windows 11 as well as 23.60 drivers. When first installed, the WiFi adapter is working perfectly, but upon a cold restart, the above symptoms appeared.

Maybe the WiFi Card is just purely a faulty unit then you thinking? I would exchange it for another one and try that if it is easily doable/possible.

Sadly faulty units do get shipped out here n there to unsuspecting folks, not much you can do about it except for the usual exchange the possible faulty unit for a different unit.

I have bought another card from another source to rule it out as well, but both cards display the exact same issue. I'm wondering if it could be a BIOS Issue that is disabling the card.

Yea you could always check the BIOS, maybe its set for 6E mode only, which is possible.

I wouldn’t see why this laptop you want to put it in can’t utilize a WiFi 7 card considering its only like a 1yr old model at best!

Problem is the BIOS doesn't have any setting for the wireless chipset.

I also don't see why it couldn't support WiFi 7 considering that it is only disabled after the first shutdown.

I have the exact same issue and it’s been driving me crazy.  I have also tried multiple BE200 cards and they all show the same behavior.  Also the second I swap the Wifi 6E card back in the Wifi works with no issues.  At this point I can’t help thinking it must be a BIOS issue which sucks since Razer has already abandoned the 2023 Blades and hasn’t released a new BIOS in a while.

I would absolutely love it if I was wrong and someone more knowledgeable chimed in with a fix though!

Edit:  Forgot to mention I have a 2023 Blade 18 so it appears to be an issue on both the 16 and 18.

I contacted razer support, which they do not provide any solution to this and refuse to answer if it's an BIOS issue. They also mentioned that it is an unauthorised modification.

Quoted from support:

"I'm afraid that this issue is most likely stemmed from the incompatibility of the new Wi-Fi adapter with the rest of the components in the laptop. We do not recommend modifications of the components in the laptop, so the information related to it is something that we cannot provide."

Razer’s response makes sense because they do not want to provide support for modifications done to the laptop.  I do take issue with their response in that theoretically an Intel motherboard should be able to slot in a new Intel Wifi card with no issues (and afaik every other laptop manufacturer has no problem with this working correctly).  The only thing is I haven’t tried swapping in a Wifi 7 card into any other laptops so it’s possible just Wifi 7 cards are causing issues?  Either way it sounds like sticking with the Wifi 6E card is the only choice at the moment which is too bad since I have a 4 router mesh Wifi 7 setup and it would be nice to take advantage of it.

I do understand that they wouldn't support the modification but at the same time it doesn't make sense for the laptop to not support the Wifi7 adapter. As it does work on the first boot, it seems like the motherboard or bios simply do not wake the adapter up after the cold boot. Wondering if anyone had any luck with using Qualcomm QCNCM865 instead?

It seems like it might be an interface issue instead, the motherboard could be hardwired to only accept CNVio2 adapters which happened for other brands laptop as well.

zameRno1, that card is identical to the 3 others I’ve bought and tried in my Blade 18 that initially work but then stop working upon reboot.  I have found that if I unplug the laptop and let the battery completely drain the wifi adapter will work again until the next shutdown.  I also noticed my laptop has abnormally high battery drain with this wifi card in it (it’ll lose all 80% of its charge in less than 24 hours even though the laptop is supposed to be shut completely off).

I’m starting to agree with DanielAkaAhboon that it seems like the adapter isn’t waking properly upon boot after the first startup.  The bluetooth works 100% fine all the time but the wifi part is what’s having issues.

I have the exact same problem with my

Razer Blade Stealth 13” (2020) | RZ09-0327

Windows 11 Pro 23H2

I upgraded from Intel AX201 to Intel BE200. Everything works just fine initially; 2,5 gbps up/down over my home network (that's where my ethernet caps out). I can even restart the computer without problems, but as soon as I do a complete shutdown of the laptop WiFi completely disappears. It becomes hidden in Device manager with the same error code. Bluetooth still works fine though.

One thing I noticed during the time the card was still working was that Intel Driver & Support Assistant didn't recognize the WiFi part of the card at all.

It's frustrating - the card works in the computer, but it seems to 'forget' that it's there after a while.

I have the exact same problem with Killer BE1750x on my Blade 16 2023, tried to update EC vBIOS to v2 but problem still exist.  I wanna keep using old BIOS for running 5600MHz on 64GB Ram.  Then tried to reset Blade everytime I shutting down by press and hold power button 10 seconds then release when the power led freshing white once.

It works for me to get the WiFi adapter ON again and hope anyone can help to mod the old BIOS to see some network settings hidden.

Surprise that intel wifi 6 ax200 chipset adapter sleep disappear issue that exist since beginning at Q2'2019 still not fixed with their newest wifi chipset adapter and driver, found the trick with long google search to wake it up after sleep disappear issue was sleep the computer for a few second then wake it up, the few second timing must be right, disappear wifi and bluetooth adapter might appear after that, if only bluetooth adapter appear but wifi still disappear after sleep wake up trick, Restart PC after that, the 2nd trick was use Intel® Network Adapter Driver for Windows® / Wired_PROSet_29.4_x64.zip just run it once to open the installer dont need to install it at all, your usb may disappear for a few second, after that your wifi adapter may appear, if only bluetooth adapter appear but wifi still disappear after, Restart PC after that, yea intel NIC Wired PROSet driver could wake up all PCIE and USB including intel wifi, both trick wasn’t interexchangeable and must use it accordingly depend on different scenarios, the 3rd trick never tried it before personally but the person claim it work was one of the connector pinout was responsible for sleep features, block it with whatever you can and plug it in after that, only sleep feature was blocked by blocking that connector pinout and the sleep disappear issue wont appear now, which connector pinout is it was forgotten and didnt recorded it, have to google search to find out.

only doing restart and shut down PC wont fix disappear issue at all.

if 3rd party intel wifi 6 adapter was working during 1st install, this isnt a bios or compatible issue, this is intel issue.

This thread is more about upgrading to WiFi7 and the issues that came with it instead.
