(Work Around) Razer Controller Setup for Xbox Problem

For those Wolverine Ultimate users experiencing the problem on Xbox where you cannot edit your custom button map profile (gets stuck on gray screen) and you can’t assign your custom mapping profile to the Green/Blue slot (Slot 1 and Slot 2) via the Razer Controller Setup for Xbox app, I have a small workaround that will allow you to remap and use two default slots. This works on my Wolverine Ultimate controller, I cannot confirm if it works on other versions.

The method below is the manual way of remapping your buttons (also known as the, Quick Control Panel), which applies the remap changes DIRECTLY to Slot 1 and Slot 2 (Green and Blue dot, respectively).

NOTE:  Whatever is currently programmed to Slot 1 and Slot 2 will be overwritten as you manually remap each button.

Step 1:   Ensure you DO NOT have the Razer Controller Setup for Xbox app open.  If the app is open, it will not allow you to apply the Quick Control Panel changes explained below, because the App has priority on your button presses.

Step 2:  Go to Page 13 of the Razer Wolverine Ultimate Master Guide (link below):, and follow the instruction on Page 13 and Page 14.  The gist is:

A. Press the Profile Swap button on your controller to set it to the color (Green or Blue) that you want to remap.

B.  Hold (and continue to hold until Step 2F) the Quick Control Panel button (to the left of the Profile Swap button).   This will cause the light on the Profile Swap button to blink.

C.  Press and Hold the paddle button that you want to program (continue to hold this button until Step 2F).

D.  Press and Hold the normal controller button that you want assigned to the paddle button. (At this point you should be still holding the Quick Control Panel button, the paddle button, and the normal controller button.

F. You should feel the controller vibrate, confirming the remapping process is complete.

G.Repeat the process until you have your buttons remapped to your liking.

Step 3:  Once you complete the Quick Control Panel button remap to the Slot of your choice, OPEN the Razer Controller Setup for Xbox app, and see that the changes are present on the Slot that you programmed them to.

Amazing post, spent the last hour trying to remap not knowing that was possible. even in other forum posts of the same issue mods lock them before anyone can say anything useful. also keeping the app in an unusable state for at least a month is borderline disrespectful.

I’m glad it worked for you.  I never knew about the manual mapping either, because when the app is working, there is no need to use it, lol.
