This has been posted before but I feel like it needs to be overstated.
PLEASE make a toggle-able option to disable local-dimming for single-zone brightness.
its the best… and worst feature of this laptop.
websites with large sections of dark and white content look weird when scrolling. White surrounded by black is dimmed if small enough. I can’t see how anyone is going to use this for photo, film, graphic or other professional work outside of connecting an external display.
other Mini-LED laptops have this option. I managed to get a massive deal on this laptop.
i had the 4080 version and loved it but sprung for this one. Now I can’t go back because the model I bought is no longer open box. I almost liked that one better. It ran cooler, could be used for work. 1440p 240hz. What do I do? Go full Blade 18” and get the 4090 and the non-local-dimmed display?
the 4090 version is perfect. I love the 1080/240hz modes. 4k is beautiful. But the local dimming always on? Achilles heel.
If you have a test bios or something please send it to me. Display firmware, panel hotfix 2.0 anything I’m willing to try it.
I would ALWAYS use local dimming for movies and games. I would NEVER use it while browsing the web or doing specific work.
