I've been testing out the "New Synapse" software since Synapse 3 was just giving me headache after headache, and this new version seems way better in most cases, EXCEPT, for the fact that keystrokes assigned to mouse buttons don't send if they include a modifier.
For example: Setting a keyboard function of A works but CTRL+A or SHIFT+A will not work. However, if I create a Macro it will work as expected.
