Trying to make a cntrl + c and cntrl + v macro but so far,
all I've gotten is a macro that either doesnt copy anything and then types c and another that paste anything and then types v.

Can you take a screenshot of your macro?
In either case, if your intent is to simply copy and paste, you don't need to create a macro for it. You can directly assign a single key using "Windows Shortcuts" assignment option.
