Question

Razer Blackshark V2 Pro microphone monitoring with unbearable lag.

BaltasarHenderson

When using the microphone sidetone option on Synapse, my microphone has what seems like half a second delay, which makes it unusable, sounds like im speaking over myself. And it´s not a hardware issue since when connecting via bluetooth to my phone, the sidetone is perfectly fine. I noticed this first when i changed from Synapse 3 to Synapse 4. I just rolled back to Synapse 3 and the issue is still there. Guess none of the versions work fine. Closing/reinstalling synapse doesn´t fix this issue. And when connecting to my PS5 the sidetone is still as lagged.

I also had a problem with my Razer Raptor 27 not being detected on Synapse 4. And i could´nt get the option list for the different THX and EQ modes on the Blackshark for one of my games (PUBG), while the rest showed the options, PUBG had no options to tune EQ or THX profiles.

Please fix Synapse 3 before releasing yet another bug infested version...

Update:
Updated the headset´s firmware, issue still persists. I´m noticing that the sidetone still persists when turning off mic monitoring, and if i turn off the microphone on the Synapse toggle, I get the good sidetone back. So i currently have two sidetones, the good one, enabled with the sidetone toggle, and the lagged one that can only be turned off by disabling the microphone on synapse.

A clue of whats happening could be the fact that the delay im getting is kind of the same delay i get when i press the “mic preview” button on synapse. Just that the lagged sidetone still persists when i turn it off. Enabling the pic preview only makes the laggy sidetone louder.

Also gotta mention that i have the windows option of sidetone turned off.

The microphone switch on the headset gets rid of both sidetones.

What in the world is going on Razer?

Definitely a Synapse bug. I just downloaded Synapse and I’ve having the exact same symptoms. If I uninstall Synapse, the issue goes away but I don’t have sidetone anymore...

Were you using Synapse 4? I´m pretty sure my problem started when i installed Synapse 4, now after the rollback to Synapse 3 this issue is still there. Probably a driver or something like that. I tried the headset on my laptop with Synapse 3, where i never installed Synapse 4 and the sidetone is fine. Definetly something in Synapse 4 broke it.

Yeah, same thing happened to me after installing Synapse 4 and going back to 3, but I removed all Razer drivers from my system, so IDK what it could be.

Read somewhere it´s something related to the THX drivers that i guess Synapse 4 includes, tried removing them and letting Synapse 3 reinstall them but the issue is still there. So weird

This issue starts when you install Synapse 4, upgraded everything past weekend including firmware because i got a new keyboard. Removed Synapse 4 and installed 3 but this wont fix the issue.

Looks like it´s happening to all of us then. I already tried uninstalling Synapse 3 twice, got rid of every driver thats razer related and i still have this dumb lag on the sidetone.

I might “upgrade” to Synapse 4 in case they fix it in a future update that Synapse 3 doesn´t get. But i´ll keep my laptop in Synapse 3 since I never installed Synapse 4 on it and the sidetone is still fine.

Such a weird issue, specially considering that turning the mic off on Synapse gets rid of the lagged sidetone.

I did notice one thing after reinstalling several times. On Synapse 3 when sidetone is off the echo is still there, when sidetone is on the normal sidetone is there and the echo. On Synapse 4 when sidetone is off the echo is also gone, when sidetone is on the normal sidetone is there and the echo.

Sidetone seems to work fine, however for some reason the mic input is also being send again (with delay) over the audio output, which causes an echo of yourself.

Synapse 4 with sidetone off seems to make the headset usable-ish again, however i already noticed Synapse 4 is very buggy. Every time i go to the headset settings and switch tabs is asks me to make it the default device for like 3~5 times before i can make any adjustments to the settings, i also noticed that at random the voice audio from others will be about half of what it should be so i can’t hear anyone talking over my game audio at random, which is fixed when restarting the headset. But don’t feel like restarting my headset every 10 minutes while gaming tbh, will see how this goes the next few days and update here.

Seriously considering reinstalling my entire PC with just Synapse 3 to see if that fixes the issue for now.

The popup asking to set the headset as the default device happens sometimes on version 3 too, maybe not so often but i did notice it on both versions.

If you do reinstall windows, i'd suggest using the option that deletes your files, just to make sure it wipes any issue that Synapse 4 introduced. That or actually formatting the drive and installing Windows from a bootable usb 😅.

Just an FYI to both of you, if you spam “Set Default Device” in Synapse 4 for either the speaker or microphone, it  will let you bypass the message.

Noticed that too 😅. Not sure if the changes do apply tho, sometimes changing stuff does nothing.
