razer central service.exe high cpu | Razer Insider
Skip to main content

Hi everyone,

Since few days I have a problem with razer central service process. This process use I mean too much of CPU, something around 12% and CPU temperature is to high +/- 45 degrees (normaly I have something about 33)… all in idle. I did windows update rollback -  nothing, Razer software reinstalled - nothing.
Maybe someone know, what I can do? this is really annoying…

Same issue since new update.
PLEASE FIX!!!

Hi everyone,

Got same issue, CPU runs up to 30% ! I’ve tried to downgrade Razer Synapse to 7.5 version, but it did’nt solve the trouble.

PLEASE RAZER, FIX this with a optimized update !

Still no fix

Same problem!

same issue till fix i’m switching back to logitech devices

I’ve actually had to outright uninstall the program as this high usage is interfering with other programs(eg kerbal space program 1)

Habe das selbe Problem. Bitte schnell fixen.

Yep same here had to uninstall all the software…. :(

would be nice to see Razer let us know what’s going on about it?

same here

I keep submitting the msinfo file support is asking for, but they seem to have an issue READING file names, and insisting its not the msinfo file. I’m ready to dump the contents of the file into my next emailed response...

I came here to see if anyone else was experiencing idle temps above 70C after seeing my CPU temps on idle spike in the past few days and it seems I’m not the only one. Razer software has been hot garbage for a while now. Its usually the cause of high CPU utilization and high temperatures and has been a tug o’ war for as long as I can remember.

My build : 5950x undervolted and cooled on NZXT 360mm AIO.

Idle temps on CCD1 BEFORE uninstalling Razer Central: 72-74C.

Idle temps on CCD1 AFTER uninstalling Razer Central: <40C.

MASSIVE difference.

Because of this unresolved software problem, I’m selling off all my Razer peripherals and leaving Razer for good. This type of headache is not worth it anymore. Who cares if the hardware looks nice if the software is complete trash?? Its not the first time this has been an issue. I keep lying to myself thinking they’ll solve it in the future but enough is enough. I’ll stick with Logitech, Glorious and other MFG’s that don’t have this software issue.

Same here. Even the Exit all apps does nothing. The Razer Central Service is still running and consuming 18-20% of my CPU. Please fix ASAP!

Kill it, there is no other way around. And change it from automatic start to manual.

Same problem here. Even if I turn off the startup of Synapse and Cortex, this Central Service starts itself.
I have a 5900x, it consumes only 6% but temeperatures rise above 73-75 °C. When terminated goes back to 50 °C.
Pls fix it, I love razer mice but this is very frustrating.

Same issue here. I usually idle around 45/50 but with this issue it now sits around 75/80 idle.

I only noticed this last night when playing MW2 and saw my temps hitting 90/91 before my pc crashed. Stopping the service fixes the temp issue, but it just causes instability with the peripherals, which just adds to the frustration. Eventually you can get a bit of stability but it takes some tinkering about until razers software decides to cooperate.

How this version ever made it to production is mind boggling.

Same here - tried to uninstall and install an older version with no success.

The service seems to simply increase the load of the core it runs on to 100%.

That doesn’t just mean unnecessary system load, but noticeably increases power consumption and resulting from that ~10°C higher CPU temperature on idle (which means more fan noise too)

Same problem here - very high idle temperatures (up to 70°C) due to this program. Now back to 40 °C as it should be. It would be good to see an official statement acknowledging this issue because this is inacceptable and makes your products look bad for no reason.

same here
u can paus it with process lasso but then razer dont work :/

Update: Just undervolted my 5800x3d to try and lower my idle temps in general, but noticed after doing so razer software is suddenly behaving and running perfectly (service only taking 0-0.1% usage idle, and normal idle temps). Not sure if its related or just luck but here is the guide I followed in case anyone can find a connection (didn’t do the PBO2 Tuner bit):

now THAT’S interesting for sure even though i’m somewhat clueless what to make of it - i personally don’t want to  play too much with over-/ underclocking my 3900x and consider reluctantly disabling the razor software for the time being, temporarily replacing it with https://openrgb.org/index.html to at least make my Blackwidow Keyboard stop doing its default color shifting.

I furthermore wonder if all of us affected have anything in common, like CPUs from certain manufacturers, running certain background tasks… funny thing is: i didn’t notice the issue after updating the razer software but after updating my avast antivirus and rebooting - but that’s just me noticing… (and no - i completely disabled avast and rebooted without it resolving the issue)

we might have something….  forgot that I also stopped a bunch of start up apps and alllssooo, uninstalled avast antivirus. Could it maybe be anti virus interfering with the service or something ? I had it disabled but still noticed its service doing stuff every now and then

BRB: testing

I am having the same problem with CPU. My CPU temp rises up to 85 C and the fans becomes louder. I have no idea what happened. Windows updates are up to date.

BINGO

Reinstalled avast > rebooted and it started happening again, even with it permanently disabled (high idle temps and usage). Uninstalled avast > rebooted and its back to normal temps and usage

That would really be awesome - thanks for checking it out beyond just disabling Avast (like I did) - I’ll try myself later, I currently have a task running that i’d have to start again all over if i reboot
