Synapse 2.0 Latest update keeps display from sleeping | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
I'm running Windows 10 Pro

Version 21H1 OS Build 19043.985

BlackWidow Ultimate

Tartarus V1

(I have a Logitech G502 mouse, and have tested with it connected and with it not connected, with and without drivers.)

Fresh install as of May 31st 2021.

Everything was going fine and then I installed Synapse 2.0 because My devices are not handled by Synapse 3.0

I setup up my power button to turn off my displays when I press it. (the machine does not power down or go into sleep mode. This is by design.)

That works great!

Then I install Synapse 2.0 and reboot. I log in (note before I log in. I can press the power button and the displays turn off.)

Once I log in and Synapse 2.0 updates from Razer.. I can no longer turn of my displays by time out

or pressing my power button.

When I press the power button, the displays go blank for about 2 seconds. Then come back on.

I did check the box to turn off illumination on my Razer devices if the displays turn off. And for a moment they do go dark when the displays turn off, then come right back on.

Even if I close the Synapse 2.0 application. I can not make the displays turn off as they should.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as my devices are basically dull bricks without synapse.

My previous version of Windows 10 worked fine. Likely because I hadn't updated to the most recent version of Synapse 2.0

Additionally: If I remove Synapse 2.0 everything works as expected. And I have removed and reinstalled several times.
Updating. Even if I don't start synapse 2.0 if it's installed it keeps the screens from turning off.

This is truly a bothersome item since there is no alternative. This is why peripherals that depend on a vendor's software that you have no control over as in keeping an upgrade from being installed or reverting to an older version that works is BAD.
I may have found an answer to the problem. My Tartarus key pad was keeping my screens from sleeping.

To fix this I unplugged my keypad, gave it a good smack on the table and plugged it back in.

Problem solved.
