Synapse 3 - Change refresh rate based on power source??? | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
I just bought a Razer Blade 15 Advanced, and one of the most annoying things about it is that if you want to get half-decent battery life out of it, you need to change the display refresh rate to 60 Hz when you're on battery. This would be less annoying if I could set Synapse to change my refresh rate to 60 Hz when on battery, and 144Hz when connected to power. Instead, I have to go manually make the change each time.

I understand that in order to do this the screen would flash black for a moment every time you plugged it in or unplugged it, but that doesn't bother me. I'd rather be able to actually get the advertised battery life. Does anyone know how you could make this happen?

I'm open to using a script and a keyboard shortcut if that's the only way, but this is a feature that is a no-brainer to me.
A good suggestion but one that perhaps requires software support from Nvidia. Would be nice to suggest that thing to them.

Possibly, but if it is a setting that is already integrated into Razer Synapse, why would Nvidia need to be involved in any way? The Intel chip drives the display if I'm not mistaken. You can't change the refresh rate in Nvidia control panel. You can only change it in the Intel utility and Razer Synapse.

There’s work around tweak for auto refresh switch between battery and ac adapter PM on me if you’re interested and want to try, I’m too lazy trying that. Personally prefer go to Synapse change the refresh rate when need the battery life.
You can download this application:

Display Changer

This application can modify the refresh rate of your laptop through a command line prompt.

You can create a shortcut on your desktop and entering the following as the location:

"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\12noon Display Changer\\dccmd.exe" -quiet -depth=max -width=1920 -height=1080 -refresh=60"

And modify the refresh value according to what you want the shortcut to do.
