What do you folks do for your performance modes?

I'm new to the Synapse world, this is my First Razer that I owned (full disclosure, I did have one for a few days but coilwhine caused me to return it). How do you handle your performance modes? I was thinking of just leaving it in gaming mode so I didn't have to worry about it, but wasn't sure if there were any negative side effects. I would assume faster battery drain.
