Anyone else having Razer Synapse 4 crash every time after opening it?

Ran chkdsk /f /r /x with admin cmd prompt and it fixed it I think, not sure how uninstalling and reinstalling didn’t fix it but that did... maybe it was a system file it relied on that was corrupted but not an actual part of the app or something but I guess it worked

Take it back this worked for a bit but it started happening again and now this solution no longer works. I have uninstalled synapse 4 and installed razer synapse 3 which works perfectly but when attempting to reinstall razer synapse 4 after trying this I ran into the same issues. I am going to assume it is an issue with razer synapse 4 and hopefully it can be fixed in a future update

It appears it may have something to do with the audio drivers for razer synapse/thx spatial audio because before it crashes there is a little badge that says undefined above the volume slider which seems like an error but then it appears to select a source (like the speakers for instance and the undefined badge seems to go away as the volume toggle turns off at which point synapse immediately crashes)

Frustrating because I liked using snap tap and was starting to like razer synapse 4 in general otherwise wish it was stable like synapse 3

I got 2, 2024 blade 18’s one with a 4090 and one with a 4080.  Synapse 4 crashes on both. I’m just waiting for a update. 

Your not alone on this, its still happening on both of my setups. Synapse 4 crashes the SSD in event logger, I ran some tests and synapse 4 was the issue. 

Synapse 3 works great, stable and no errors. 

When Razer is forcing everyone to update to synapse 4 in January 2026, I am already shopping around just bought some gaming mice from other brands (Wont mention until testing is done) but Im looking for stable software over the actual “Mouse” itself, given that they are all generally similar.

I am having this same issue. I have been having a ton of issue with my audio randomly cutting out and having to go to services then find windows audio and restart the service to get the audio back. This all started when I got my barracuda x chrome razer headset. definitely something to do with the audio somehow. I miss Synapse 3 so much the synapse 4 sucks and makes no sense. someone should have really told them the whole “if it aint broke dont freaking fix it? I hate so much they made the chroma part separate so its more steps and more difficult to work with chroma now. so dumb.

after a ton of trial an error I found out it synapse 4 wont start if signalRGB is running..I still blame Razer. If I exit SignalRGB itll synapse 4 will work again. It used to work just fine then this last update broke up. I do wonder if they purposely broke it to force people to use their chroma app…. 

Update for anyone else having issues with Razer Synapse 4 and SignalRGB I think I found a work around. I am able to use signalrgb for leds and synapse 4 for macros. first go to signalRGB> Settings> conflicts then switch off automatically close conflicting programs. Now open Synapse 4 and go to the chroma section and great a new led profile but set all the leds on all the devices to black. For the barracusa x chroma to work I had to also go to its settings and change the brightness down and back up and the leds started working again. Hope this helps!

Not yet the issue with Synapse 4 and crashing and sometimes Not even openign along with windows which is most of the time is still happening just now.

I don’t use SignalRGB. I’ve been using Razer Synapse 4 and Chroma for my Razer peripherals, and Corsair iCUE and ASUS Armoury Crate for my respective PC fans/pumps/ram RGB. I’m having constant crashes after a clean uninstall/reinstall of Chroma and Synapse 4. Seeing as I’m not the only one having issues here, I’m hoping Razer irons this out because I just bought a Tartarus Pro to replace my Tartarus v2.

yeah i been have a problem with the razer synapse 4 so i reinstalled razer synaps 3 and it work perfectly but idk know how long am going to be able to use razer synaps 3

So, Not sure if it is too late but I seem to have figured out my problem. Razer Axom was creating problems. I uninstalled it and now it opens without a problem everytime

I didn’t even install Axom ,but it is good to know that your issue seems to have been resolved.

There is a lot of problems withthe actual installer of Synapse 4 as well,Razer support have been next to useless and even very silent about the issues as well.

They well know the issue exists,btu nothing is being done about it.

I’m in the same boat, I have Synapse 3, iCue and Armory Crate all running lighting effects but in tandem. My Armory Crate runs the aRGB lights built into the power supply, motherboard and through the template for iCue the aRGB lighting on the 4 memory DIMMs.

Razer S3 via Chroma runs a Razer 6 port aRGB LED controller, which looks after case, video card waterblock lighting and fan lighting. Razer also runs its Nomma Chroma speakers, the Firefly, Blackwidow, Trinity and Tartarus. The system has run perfectly fine with lighting profiles that when a game runs, both Armory crate and S3 change colour schemes without a flaw. Unfortunately trying to install the new Synapse 4 unloaded a nightmare that I could only fix by reverting back to a clone I had of my OS drive from an external SSD.

I tried Razer’s suggestions, uninstalled S3, ran the scannow from the CLI, removed all but my mouse and keyboard before rebooting, then installing the new S4 version, but I still have the same issue. It crashes moments after starting up. I decided to just revert back from the clone again and kept things as they were.

I hope that Razer will fix this issue as I do enjoy their peripherals and the lighting effects, but after 21 years of using their equipment and having forced ‘updated’ software that really is not necessary to use unless it guarantees to work properly, that would be one of those days where it was the straw that broke the camel’s back if it won’t work. I also have a fair number of key profiles I want to migrate over for games, macros and obviously the lighting profiles, but this looks like it is not going to work if the company does not help solve the issue.

I will not reinstall my OS from scratch to try getting it to work as many of you have pointed out conflicts with other lighting control software. It is up to the provider to make allowances for hardware issues and workarounds so their gear works as well as others as we generally have a PC made from many manufacturer’s components, not a sole provider that has influenced everything in the laptop/tower.

Hey, had the same Problem. I deleted the Croma App from Razer. Now it is working. 

Same here, almost 4 months, when trying to open Synapse 4, it always crashes. I decided to go back to Synapse 3.
