Hi,
I’m having a persistent microphone issue with my Razer BlackShark V2 HyperSpeed when using Razer Synapse 4 on Windows.
Environment
-
Headset: Razer BlackShark V2 HyperSpeed (wireless dongle, 2.4 GHz)
-
Software: Razer Synapse 4 (latest version as of today)
-
OS: Windows 11 (fully updated)
-
Connection: Dongle plugged directly into the PC (rear USB port)
-
Default input device in Windows: “Microphone (Razer BlackShark V2 HS 2.4)”
Issue summary
When Synapse 4 is running, using the physical mic mute button on the headset causes my microphone input volume to be forced to 0 and it stays at 0 even after unmuting.
-
In Synapse 4, on the “Mic” tab, the mic toggle switches ON/OFF correctly, but the mic input level slider stays locked at 0 after I mute once.
-
In Windows sound settings, the input device is set correctly and the volume is normally at around 80. After the issue occurs, the Windows input volume also drops to 0 and stays there, as shown in the screenshots.
-
Because of this, even when I unmute the mic and the toggle is ON, there is no input – the gain is effectively stuck at 0.
Detailed reproduction steps
-
Start Windows and make sure:
-
Default input device is “Microphone (Razer BlackShark V2 HS 2.4)”
-
Input volume in Windows is around 80
-
-
Launch Razer Synapse 4.
-
Go to the BlackShark V2 HyperSpeed → Mic tab.
-
Confirm that:
-
The Mic toggle is ON
-
The mic input slider is set to a normal value (e.g. 70–80)
-
-
Press the physical mic mute button on the headset to mute.
-
In Synapse, the mic toggle switches to OFF as expected.
-
-
Press the physical mic mute button again to unmute.
Observed behavior
-
After step 6, the mic toggle in Synapse changes back to ON, but:
-
The mic input slider stays at 0 in Synapse.
-
In Windows sound settings, the input volume for the same device also drops to 0 and stays there.
-
-
Moving the slider up manually works temporarily, but after using the physical mute button again, the volume is reset to 0 once more.
-
This behavior is reproducible every time as long as Synapse 4 is running.
Important observations
-
If I completely exit/close Synapse 4, the physical mute button on the headset works normally:
-
Windows input volume stays at the previous value (e.g. 80).
-
Mute/unmute only toggles the mic state and does not change the volume to 0.
-
-
So the headset hardware and Windows sound settings appear to be working correctly.
The issue only occurs when Synapse 4 is active and seems to be caused by the interaction between Synapse 4 and the physical mute button.
What I have already tried
-
Checked Windows sound settings:
-
Set BlackShark V2 HS 2.4 as the default input device.
-
Confirmed microphone access is allowed in Privacy settings.
-
-
Disabled mic enhancements / voice gate / audio enhancements in Synapse and Windows.
-
Plugged the dongle into different USB ports (front and rear).
-
Verified that the headset works properly with Synapse completely closed.
-
(If applicable) Performed a clean reinstall of Synapse 4 and updated the headset firmware.
Despite these steps, the issue persists as long as Synapse 4 is running.
Request
Could you please:
-
Confirm whether this is a known issue/bug with BlackShark V2 HyperSpeed and Synapse 4 (mic volume forced to 0 after mute/unmute), and
-
Advise on a permanent fix or provide a workaround that still allows me to use Synapse features without breaking the mic volume, and
-
Let me know if you need logs, config files, or additional information (Synapse build, firmware version, etc.) – I can provide them.
Thank you.
