Hi everyone,

I've been experiencing multiple serious issues with my Razer BlackShark V2 HyperSpeed running Synapse 4 on Windows 11. I've already had the headset replaced once – the problems are identical on the new unit, which confirms this is a software/firmware issue, not a hardware defect.

1. Dongle not recognized on startup
When I turn on the headset, it is frequently not detected by Synapse or Windows. I have to physically unplug and replug the HyperSpeed dongle to get it recognized. This happens consistently and is reproducible.

2. Volume extremely low until a profile is selected
Every time I power on the headset, audio is barely audible until I manually switch to or re-select a profile in Synapse 4. Only then does the correct volume apply. This happens on every startup.

3. Microphone randomly stops working
The microphone frequently fails to pick up audio. When it does work, the sidetone ("Abhören" / mic monitoring) feature does not function at all. Toggling it in Synapse has no effect.

4. EQ / sound profile changes automatically when launching a game
The audio profile changes by itself when I open a game – it sounds like a different EQ is being applied. I have disabled all game-linked profile switching and app-based profiles in Synapse, but the behavior persists.

WHAT I'VE TRIED

  • Clean reinstall of Synapse 4
  • Firmware updated to latest version
  • Disabled USB selective suspend
  • Tried multiple USB ports (2.0 and 3.0)
  • Disabled Windows audio enhancements
  • Replaced the headset (identical issues on replacement unit)

These appear to be known Synapse 4 bugs affecting many users with this headset (I've found multiple identical threads here on Razer Insider). The hardware is excellent – the software is the problem. I'd strongly urge Razer to treat this as a priority bug. A replacement is not a solution.

Has anyone found a reliable workaround? And is there any official acknowledgment from Razer on these issues?

As critical issues go, I’m having an awful one since the app updated yesterday:

Every time I mute my microphone with the mute button on the headset, it sets the MIC volume to 0 and does not restore itself when unmuting… hooooly pain!
