Intermittent or Lack of Feature Functionality - Software Team Can't Code For a Simple Modern Software Guideline?

I’m on the latest version of Synapse 4, Windows 11, fresh hardware and software install.

Blackwidow v4 Pro, Basilisk v4 Pro, Wireless Charger v2, Firefly v2, Laptop Cooler, fresh out of the box and on updated firmware.

Windows 11, 25H2 fully up-to-date.

The only way I can get Global Shortcuts working properly is to restart Windows. Prior to a restart, they work sometimes and not others, with no consistency or common variables.

A quick Google search reveals this problem going back for YEARS across multiple platforms.

The other thing that comes up a lot on those searches is the inability to set a lock-screen or pre-login profile for Razer hardware. The answer is usually, “But you need a profile to load, which needs Synapse, which needs a user, so therefore it’s never happening.”

Other vendors don’t have a problem making this work...

The common thread I immediately draw between these two seemingly disparate problems is that both would require a program to run in SYSTEM context.

There’s evidence that Razer’s software team is either unable or unwilling to craft their software to support running in SYSTEM context as a properly registered service - the most obvious of which is that, in 2026, they STILL have a service registered with Windows that is SPECIFICALLY for elevation. That kind of practice died with Windows XP for every other competent software team that interacts regularly with the OS.

So unless someone can point to a permanent non-janky fix, I’m just jumping ship and returning all this nice hardware just I got because of the inadequate and frankly outdated software behind it.

It’d be a shame, too, because in the few days I’ve had with it the hardware design and engineering seems solid.

If I wasn’t within the return period I’d be writing my own wrapper to send this problem into the annals of history, but it’s a lot easier to just switch back to Corsair or try (god save me) Logitech.

Replying to my own post to note that I’ve since piloted SignalRGB for our use case.

You know what happens in SignalRGB when you lock the computer? The RGB components keep working. 😑
