Synapse 4 Immersive Update: Razer Aether Bulbs cause permanent Chroma API Deadlock (Chroma Connect broken)

Hello everyone and Razer Dev Team,

I am writing to report a severe, easily replicable architectural bug in Razer Synapse 4 that completely paralyzes the Chroma SDK / Chroma Apps integration across the entire system.

Important Bug Timeline (Crucial for the Dev Team):
I was away from my PC from August 3rd to August 24th. On August 3rd, the Chroma API integration worked flawlessly with all built-in game profiles (including Divinity: Original Sin 2, where lighting responded to every game event perfectly). When I returned on August 24th and Synapse installed the major "Immersive Update" (which rolled out around August 5-6), the entire Chroma Apps layer broke instantly due to the connected Razer Bulbs. The issue is 100% tied to that specific software build change.

My Hardware Setup:

  • Peripherals: Razer Basilisk V3 Pro, DeathStalker V2 Pro, Mouse Dock Pro.
  • Chroma Connect Integration: Yeelight monitor light bar, Asus motherboard (via Chroma Control plugin), and 2x Razer Aether Light Bulbs (US-market models).

The Core Issue:
The core Chroma API and game-driven integrations work flawlessly with all basic peripherals and third-party syncs (Yeelight, Asus, Opera GX) until the newly added Razer Aether Light Bulbs are powered on and active in Synapse 4.

The moment any external app or game tries to hijack the lighting (Chroma Apps layer), a catastrophic session deadlock occurs inside RazerAppEngine.exe and Razer Chroma SDK Service. The background network stream for the Matter/Wi-Fi connection completely freezes the Chroma host. All devices immediately lock up on a static color or preset effect.

Crucial Details & Testing Results:

  1. Toggle Isolation Fails: Disabling the "Synapse Priority" toggle on the Razer Bulbs does NOT prevent the crash. Even if the toggle is turned OFF before a PC reboot, the Chroma host still initializes in a broken, frozen state.
  2. Permanent Corruption Until Wipe: Once the Aether Bulbs break the Chroma API, simply deleting the Bulbs from Synapse 4 and rebooting the PC does NOT restore functionality. The only way to temporarily fix this is a brutal manual wipe of all %programdata%/Razer folders and registry keys, combined with a netsh winsock reset.
  3. Mobile App Debug Leak: To make matters worse, the mobile Razer Gamer Room app is completely broken. Attempting to add a new home/room fails with a "Connection error". During the home creation process, an internal debug message briefly flashes on the screen: "sent logs and inform joseph", and then the interface glitches out completely.

This issue effectively breaks the main selling point of the Razer Gamer Room ecosystem, as the official Razer lamps are actively killing the sync for the rest of the Razer peripherals and third-party software bridges.

Has anyone else encountered this deadlock with Aether Bulbs after the August update? Razer Devs, please flag this for the Synapse 4 QA/Chroma API infrastructure engineering team.
