I’d like to share a few issues I’ve encountered while using Razer Synapse on macOS.
My intention in writing this post is twofold:
1. To help these issues be recognized and hopefully improved.
2. To learn whether there are already known solutions or workarounds, and to share that information if available.
Before getting into the details, here is my current setup:
- Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro 75%
- Razer Cobra Pro
Now to the main points. I’ve personally experienced two major inconveniences.
The first issue is related to modifier keys such as Control, Command, and Option. These keys appear to be registered as if they are pressed multiple times, even when pressed only once.
For example, when trying to register hotkeys in third-party applications, having Synapse installed causes Command or Option to be detected as if they were pressed twice or more.
At first, I suspected this might be a conflict with specific applications. However, I noticed the same behavior with the system shortcut Control + Space for input language switching: when Synapse is installed, the language toggles twice instead of once.
If anyone knows how this behavior can be fixed or mitigated, I would greatly appreciate any shared insights.
The second issue concerns Windows key remapping. Currently, remapping the Windows key appears to be restricted.
On macOS, the common modifier key order is Control – Option – Command. As a long-time Mac user, being unable to remap the Command and Option keys and having to adapt to a fixed layout feels quite uncomfortable.
Since this is Synapse for macOS, it would be great if key remapping were supported directly. If there are concerns about exposing full remapping, providing official preset profiles tailored for macOS would also be a very welcome alternative.
If anyone has found a way to resolve or improve this behavior, I would sincerely appreciate it if you could share your experience.
As a user who genuinely likes Razer products, I’d like to express my gratitude for releasing and supporting Razer Synapse on macOS. With a few improvements, I believe the experience could become significantly more pleasant and polished.
