When I realized Rift S had switched across to display port I started searching around for solutions for my new Razer Blade 15 Advanced (HDMI out only). Everything I read online suggested that Rift S was not compatible.
The main issue I read about was that the Thunderbold/USB-C connector was showing only connected to the internal graphics card and not the 2080. As I was out of my return period for the laptop (pretty bummed) I figured I would try a USB-C 8K Display Port adapter. Sure enough Rift S works great!
Perhaps someone knows the specifics but the NVidia control panel is misleading as far as I can tell. Both the laptop display and the USB-C/Thunderbolt connector are only shown as being connected to the Intel graphics. This can't be the case though as games and VR show the GPU being put to work (in task manager). I cannot see Razer releasing a laptop that would not use the GPU
Anyway, I just thought I would post up it as working as everything else I found suggested it would not.
