Hey mate, I have tried the update but despite the successful firmware update, I still cannot update Nvidia drivers, any luck at your end?

Hi! Are you still able to unervolt with XTU after BIOS update? Thanks!

There is a new firmware:

Release Date: 29 Jun 2020
Driver Description Version
Razer Blade Pro 17” (2020) BIOS Firmware Updater v1.03

http://drivers.razersupport.com//index.php?_m=downloads&_a=view&parentcategoryid=1005&pcid=996&nav=0,350,996

Are you still able to undervolt after this BIOS 1.3 update? Thanks!
@4K2HD It might be worth mentioning to you because i think you're a bit mislead about what XMP is for.

XMP is only available in your bios after the 1.3 update if you have compatible ram installed. It isn't an option for the stock ram as that ram does not come with an XMP profile on the chip. You would need to replace your ram with a compatible ram kit that includes and XMP profile, then the setting will show up.

Yes, I understand that I need compatible RAM, not the stock. I am reading in other forums that even after the BIOS update the XMP option under Advanced doesn't show up even with the compatible RAM with XMP profiles. So may I ask since its working for you, to share a screenshot of the XMP option in the BIOS for us who cant find it yet, and perhaps even tell us what RAM are you using since it does appear to be compatible. Thanks

I've ordered the Pro 17 4k 120mhz and it should arrive very soon. I have been using a Sager/Clevo for the past several years and I'm not up-to-date on hardware now. I get that the following items are probably overkill, but I'd appreciate your respective thoughts.

First, I'd like to make sure I'm selecting a ram upgrade that will be compatible and whose speed isn't wasted. Maybe I'm just missing something, but I cant find literature on what ram is compatible and what clock the max frequency is. I am considering Crucial Ballistix SODIMM 64GB (32GBx2) DDR4 3200 MT/s which has a 16 CL. Can anyone comment on whether 3200 is viable here? Can anyone comment on the compatibility and/or limitations of this ram with this computer? Can anyone recommend anything better for this use case?

Second, I am considering installing a second M.2 Drive (and, perhaps, using it as the boot drive). The drive I am considering is the Sabrent 2TB Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 Internal SSD. I am concerned as to whether this drive will operate well in the closed case environment. I'm also not perfectly certain that this motherboard/computer is gen 4 capable. Does anyone have any thoughts on this drive for this use case? Does anyone know if this motherboard/computer has gen 4 M.2 ability? Can anyone recommend anything better for this use case?

Thanks everyone!

It's an awesome computer you will love it!

Although it is a 2080 Super Max Q, I've been able to get up to 120w power limit performance out of the graphics card, so it performs more like a non Max Q version.

For the RAM I would advise to just upgrade with the compatible 2933Mhz because BIOS 1.0 doesn't currently support XMP even with compatible RAM, but it does support undevolting. They released BIOS 1.03 that apparently does support XMP profiles but it removes undervolt. Meaning you are forced to decide between either undervolt or the extra 300Mhz you get with 3200Mhz. Performance wise, with the undervolt of about -120v you get a significant boost for CPU so I wouldn't update the BIOS yet and stay with undervolt with 2933Mhz at either 32gb or 64gb RAM.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

the design looks cool!

I've installed two Samsung 970 Evo Pluses, It seems the case already has thermal pads which attach to both NVME drives. I was able to install thin copper thermal heatspreaders on the drives as well and reattach the case with no problems. Drive temps have never seemed to be an issue once I've done this.

Does anyone have persistent or random audio static / crackling coming from the left speaker when playing audio? I have returned the 2020 version for a new one because it had the issue, but now the new laptop also has the issue. I'm beginning to think it's a driver issue?
A 300Hz panel ??

Is it mean to say that I wish my laptop would crap out, so i get a better one cuz cmon 300Hz panel ???
Can Razer Official give us an update on the Nvidia Geforce Experience Driver update situation?

Honestly, the 300hz option is amazing, but the 4k touch 120hz is something otherworldly in terms of how good it works. Not so great for in games due to pushing 4k with good FPS out of a 2080 super max q is kinda difficult, but i find that the screen looks super sharp at 1440p as well.
Does anyone know if this year we can expect a white variation of this laptop? This year I will have to buy a new computer to work, so a black laptop with a green logo, unfortunately, falls off.

Hi Guys! I've gotten my Razer 17 Pro all running, with the Sabrent Rocket 2tb as main drive, the OEM hard drive as the spare hard drive, and I've installed 64 gb of 3200mhz Ballistix Ram (only running at 2666mhz sadly as I've not yet been able to bring myself to update the bios, nor have I tried undervolting yet to take advantage of the current bios's allowance for it).

My question today is: I'd like to know if I can purchase a spare power brick for this laptop. I see a number of bricks available for other models, and one for a prior 17 (but with higher wattage and a different size to it). Does anyone know how to get additional OEM bricks for the 2020 Pro 17?

Welcome to the Club!
If you are not Undervolting then by all means update the BIOS and get your 3200mhz, otherwise buy other RAM that will support 64Gb 2933Mhz.
Why would you want another brick? Makes no sense! Because the GPU runs max at 120w and the CPU 65w, meaning that you are not held back by the brick.
If anything, these 2020 models allow for USBC charging up to 100w so get one of those instead and only use the 230w brick when you game.
A must have for gamers.

and yet still no Nvidia Driver update? If I update I loose 120hz on 4k with current Nvidia driver.
No... No driver at all
Good to see my 4300 spent is being given the best support after 2 months!

I also think the 120hz version is more practical overall, unless you're a professional esports player you don't really need those ay hertz on the go.

Are you using 1440p in games only or the desktop as well? I would like to know if you can run Windows desktop in 2560x1440 at 120Hz on the 4k120 model.

Which game are you running on 4k that is having issues?

In my use, it seems to be running decently-ish on almost-4k (Samsung 49" ultrawide, in terms of pixels it's around 5% less than 4k) at max settings for most new single player AAA games.

The exceptions that I've found so far being the Flight Simulator 2020 and on Far Cry 5 with HD texture pack and everything else enabled, there's not enough graphics memory so there's occasional stutters.
