Is this the fix for Blade 16 overheating issues? | Razer Insider

Bought a Razer Blade 16 RTX4080 but returned for a refund due to overheating issues (too hot for hands on keyboard after 20mins)
Really frustrating as other than that, its the perfect machine.

Saw this on Reddit recently (https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/12xj4vm/what_temperature_should_a_blade164090_cpu_be/)

Has anyone else tried this? Does it work? Whats the drawback if any?

“Same story with mine when its out of the box. Tried repasting, undervolting, bought a fan underneath it. Nothing helps but ONE thing.

By Default “cpu boost mode is on and set to aggressive”

In power settings: edit power plan>advanced power settings you got there only minimum and maximum processor state, but you actually can unhide (use regeddit) two more processor settings (added a picture below). Just disable the “processor performance boost mode” and you’ll not be seeing nothing above 80 while gaming with automatic fan speed or if you want to hear an airplane with max fan speed then it will be on low 70 or even lower which is perfectly fine for a blade.

Also i played around with maximum processor frequency and tested how high can i go to maintain 80c while having auto or maxed fan speed. But in reality if i have it plugged in on a 144hz monitor with gsync on then games should be limited to 144fps and boost mode off or on wont cause any difference almost. Unless you do 4k tv forza 5 on ultra or something similar where you want to squeeze everything out.

Bottom line, 144-165fps for aaa games is fine with boost mode off. Keeps temps low and prolongs the lifespan of the blade.

P.s. I’m still looking for a fix to be able to use my blade with boost mode on and no limit on cpu mhz. I mean let’s be honest, whats the point of having a beast of a laptop if we cant even use its full potential. It’s like driving a supercar with a speed limiter on it. Might as well buy a cheaper car then.”

You should have to undervolt your CPU/GPU - if it should work - and your problem should be solved.
