No option to boot from usb?

Hello, I’ve got a brand new mid 2019 Razer blade advanced. I downloaded all the drivers and am ready to reinstall windows from a bootable usb stick and all drivers from a separate usb stick. I’m running into an issue though and it’s when I choose F12, I only have one option to boot from. I thought, okay, maybe I need to turn on another option in the bios, but I don’t see how to do that either in the bios. I’m hoping there is something I’m missing here. I’ve done this a few times with Alienware laptops and the Razer blade stealth 2018. This is the first time I haven’t seen a usb option. Is there No option for boot from USB in this model? Can a kind savvy person post steps to set that option on this model? I am stumped. Slaymetender

Maybe it’ll boot automatically. Do you want to upgrade SSD? If yes did you try also put the new SSD and just start with USB installer plugged, without pressing f12.

It does not boot automatically with the usb, hence this issue. This is also the same usb boot drive I’ve been using on the other Lappys too. I have a spare boot drive which I will also try, but like this it’s usb. The new ssd is installed which takes out the old ssd it came with. The ssd is new, so no copy of windows is on it.

Hmm weird, it’s maybe a bit hassle but how about run the original and make usb boot from troubleshooting menu? I remember I couldn’t boot Stealth 2016 from usb boot that contain windows from Microsoft that I used for clean install install Blade 15 2018. Or try that usb or download new windows installer to that usb.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. The option I get from pressing F12 at boot right now is Enter Setup only. What a weird state it's in. I did try my other boot able USB drive and that one also isn't working. Note in the bios, it does see both boot able USB drives by name and brand under USB configuration.

I'm trying another option too, just in case this is the culprit. Maybe the boot device needs to be set up for UEFI. I am not sure if I did that originally, so I'm creating a new UEFI boot drive. Perhaps this will be the solution.

Sure enough, that was it. The boot device needs to be uefi. I'm glad I tried that!
