Noob in tech: I have stupid questions.

Hello.
I'm very novice and I really don't know much.
I wonder: what's the point of the CPU? I know the GPU is good for games and all, but from what I understand, the CPU doesn't matter as much?
So, what does the CPU do? To play videogames, is there a point to switch from Balanced to Creator mode in Synapse, as it only seem to affect the CPU?

Those must sound like dumb questions, I'm sorry! And I'm thankful in advance to whoever feels like explaining these few things to me. :P
Much love from a Blade Stealth 2019 owner!

GPU is important to play better, obviously.
Anyway CPU take its part also in gaming.
Some game heavily use GPU, some games CPU.
GPU and CPU has to be well balanced.
For example is stupid to have a RTX2080Ti and a Pentium... it will be a bottleneck.
Also, RTX downgrade its performance to adapte itself to the low CPU perfomance.
Remeber that is the CPU the Boss of the PC. Also in gaming.

CPU is laptops Brain and gpu is muscle. You can still live without muscle😅 But not without brain. That made it also important on gaming.
Yes if the brain temperature hit 90ish or closing 100 on gaming I would change it to balanced mode I believe it make cpu tdp (consumed watt) lower or lower the cpu frequency, running on hot temperature isn’t great on thin light laptops.
