Your laptop, supercharged Add instant desktop graphics power with the Razer Core X Chroma: http://rzr.to/CoreX

The Razer Core X Chroma graphics enclosure turns compatible Thunderbolt™️ 3 Windows 10 or Mac laptops into a desktop-class gaming and content creation powerhouse. A single cable is all you need to connect your laptop to your desktop setup—connecting everything from your graphics card, peripherals with four USB ports, Gigabit Ethernet and Razer Chroma lighting in a flash. And with a massive 700W power supply, you can fuel your desktop graphics card and provide 100W power to compatible laptops via USB-C.

To use the Razer Core X Chroma, users simply need to install their choice of desktop PCIe graphics cards, ranging from NVIDIA®️ GeForce RTX™️, GeForce®️ GTX, and Quadro®️ cards to AMD XConnect™️ enabled Radeon™️ and Radeon™️ Pro cards. Installation of the graphic card is a toolless experience thanks to the simple drawer-style slide and lock mechanism.

Windows 10 laptops require a Thunderbolt 3 port with external graphics (eGFX) support and the latest Windows RS5 update. Mac systems require a Thunderbolt 3 port, macOS running High Sierra 10.13.4 or later with compatible AMD Radeon™️ cards.

Unfortunately No, it’s only compatible with laptops with Thunderbolt port, for max bandwidth is with current TB3 PCIe3x4 lanes. From first gen Blade 2011 to 2015, it doesn’t have Thunderbolt port.

I have a very nice and well-build desktop PC that I do 98% of my gaming on. However, now that I own the Razer Blade Stealth Pink Quartz I admit that there's some appeal to owning one of these.

There are times where I go live at my parent's house for a week or more to babysit their dogs while they travel, normally I pack up my large desktop PC and take it with me, but this seems like a much better option. I could bring my pink keyboard, one of my pink mice (I have both varieties) and one of my pink mouse mats (I have both) along with my Leviathan Mini for sound with the Chroma Core X and it would be much easier to move and travel with than my entire desktop setup.

I wish I knew that back then. I know a vanguard mate who also bought core x new and I think after you. This is how technology update goes today. About trade in it’s nice if there’s but it’s always sucks price for older hardware better sell it on ebay, look at Apple and GameStop trade in program. Good side it’s stil same TB3 bandwidth, extra PSU watt is for io ports, when I’m not wrong you’ve chroma stand and rtx card? Did you try using usb c on rtx card to power chroma stand. If yes I would like to know if it works or not.

Hi Joikansai,

Alas you are right. As much as I want those ports I don't know if I can justify the risk of not being able to sell the original Core X for a decent return. I have plugged my Chroma Headset Stand into the USB-C port on my RTX card via a USB A to C cable. However, it sometimes disconnects and sometimes Synapse doesn't recognize it. Now up to this point, a simple unplug and plug back in has solved it but I would like to find out why that's happening so I can get it solved. My card (ASUS) has RGB on it so the new Core X Chroma wouldn't be so much for the lighting as for the ports with a more direct pass to the TB3 connection on the laptop. As it is now, it feels like an awful lot of daisy chaining. USB A Stand to cable converter USBC to USB-C port to GPU to PCIE to TB3 at Laptop. Whereas the new Core X Chroma would just be USB A to PCIE controller to TB3.

as someone shopping for a new laptop, this is going to make my job a LOT easier. not having to worry about the GPU too much is going to save me a lot of money initially and then i can just keep this on my desk for when i want to sit down and fr4g sum n00bz

That looks so good. Wish I could afford it tho!
I have one of these units and it's fantastic. Paired with an RTX 2070 and Dell XPS 13 9380. Just one problem so far with the ethernet connection going on & off - I have raised a ticket with Razer Support.
I sort of asked this in the "What would you like to see next" thread, but I kinda wish for a mini-itx version of the core. A mini-itx core would mean it's less bulky and more lightweight that you would be able to bring it with you on trips abroad. I've actually asked the weight question in Amazon and they say it's really heavy. So far, I see Gigabyte have their Aorus Gaming Box at just over 5 lbs, but it would be nice to see a Razer equivalent. It would be the ideal gaming-on-the-go set-up for my blade stealth 🙂.

Hey man!
I see you're a newbie here, I just wanted to let you know that your response might be considered spam/fluff and therefore could be penalized.
I would encourage you to read the Posting Guidelines
Avoid posting or creating fluff/meaningless threads - if you are caught with this with the clear intention of bringing up your post counts, you will be penalized.
as well as the Razer Insider House Rules
Do not post short meaningless replies that do not contribute to the discussion in a meaningful manner with the intent of bringing up your post count. Examples of low-quality posts: "hello", "yeah", "lol." If you find the post agreeable, you may contribute either constructively through a well thought out reply or ‘like’ the post.
in order to avoid future inconveniences.

Also I think you should try to post in English so that all of us can try to help you/ share our thoughts on the point you just made. As Kajira once said:
Because Razer is a USA based company and they do most of their business in English unless they're conducting business in a different country at that time. Since the US is their "home country" as far as where it's technically located, that is why it is also done in English.
There are small groups who wish for specific language forum sections, but at this time it's not cost efficient to hire a new group of staff to support that.
You can PM me if you have any questions or need any help! :big_grin_:

Beautiful thing. But unfortunately, the external housings, no matter which manufacturer, are simply too expensive. Here in Germany, the Core Chroma costs 450 euros. In addition, I need a good graphics card, which again costs at least 350 euros. All in all, from 800 euros.
The Razer Blade Stealth also costs 1400 euros upwards. All in all, that would be the case with EUR 2200. For this you get a very good computer with monitor and Razer peripherals devices.
Don't get it wrong, I'm very happy with my blade but Razer Core is just too expensive.
It looks great, also certainly makes a very good impression with an additional card but not for the price. Would me for the 3 gene. want an edition with a graphics card that is also affordable.

Core is made to accompany stealth and transformed it to ultrabook that can gaming, now with 1650 on 2019 model you can game but you’ll limited to what 1650maxq can do, not in case with core setting the problem maybe the cpu bottleneck, TB3 bandwidth depends Core setting and game. Of course having real desktop battle station would give you more performance but for someone like me who’re too lazy building a tower, hate having too many systems and space for that core setting is the cleanest and simplest setting.
For performance for bucks my stealth was under €1K from refurbished Razer store, xc2080 was like €700 new and Core v2 was €300 used, it’s roughly 2K and overall performance on firestrike can beat my 1070maxq and I think it’s around 2070maxq Blade which costs more on overall score, of course cpu performance since it’s only quad core 15 Watt low voltage cpu it can’t beat the Blade 15 6 cores 45 Watt CPUs.

Hi

Hi
Yes, of course, if you can run Refurbish or used cheaply, it is certainly much cheaper. I think it's a good thing, but I'm not there in terms of price. Had already thought for me to put such a Core Chroma there, but the price of a graphics card puts me off. That's why I'm hoping for a pre-installed one at a lower price for version 3.
